Probably true but I doubt anywhere near 1% of 911 buyers have ever driven an Evora.
Very true, but I don't think it's unreasonable for Lotus to aim to get 1-2% of Porsche buyers at least considering a Lotus as a viable option.
It may not be unreasonable, but it'll be a big effort. To my mind, marketing is really what Lotus need; yes there are significant flaws in the products (some of which are apparently addressed by this facelift) but their biggest problem is that most potential customers don't even realise the products exist.

They should do a similar campaign to what Nissan did with the GT-R and the 911 Turbo put downs. Evora 400 vs 911 S ads talking smack would be fun and would get the message out there, especially if they could get them to go viral.

er, no.
funny campaign maybe, but it didn't sell thousands of GTRs nor did it convert maybe Porsche fans.
GTR is a halo car for the (very large) Nissan car company.
i think it's more stealth, and cost effective, PR campaign to get test drives because conversion rate is very high. A lot of reviews give the 400 a clear win over the GT4, let alone a std porker.

Has there ever been a really successful ad campaign where one manufacturer has directly slagged off a competitors product? I thought one of the general rules of advertising is don't mention the competiting products? It certainly hasn't done Samsung any good recently.

As Kambites alluded to in his post, all Lotus need to do is make people aware the cars exist and have more dealers so more people can have test drives.

Wtf is the relevance of being a 997 driver to the fact you think it looks good? Is that's supposed to add credibility to it? If you'd have one, why don't you get rid of the porker and buy one? Answer? It's st.

But the only things you seem to have commented favourably on are ropey old BMWs, so your tastes may be a little eclectic.

Haha, feels like you know me! But I'm sorry if the Evora was any good there'd be one or two on the road. I love the brand and owned an Elise but this is a £70k car for high days and holidays with a crap gear change, which is unforgivable. It also has a deeply nasty interior, neither of which can be levelled at my beloved beer money 328i. So there

Have you driven an Evora 400 or even one of the earlier cars? No is my guess.

I haven't seen you or your house but that decoration in your sitting room is deeply nasty and as for that shirt!

My point being that unqualified opinion is a waste of time.

Ps. Evora gearchange is wsy better than any Elise I have driven.

My point

If they're that great Mr property investor (large scale) why are they as rare as hen's teeth? The simple answer is that they are not as good as the competition. You just can't argue with the sales figures.

I have read the thread. You seem to be blaming the lack of sales on the general public's favouritism towards Porsches. I think the opposite is true, everyone loves a home grown product. if Lotus were to make a car truly worthy of the absurd price tag they'd strike gold big time. However unless you're a multi millionaire fleet owner you'd have to be borderline insane to spend your hard earned on one of these. Hence only a handful have.

Actually I blame Lotus marketing, Porsche are the obvious competitor hence the comparisons ps price is no where near as ludicrous as Porsche prices especially in terms of performance per pound.

5 stars, but ahem, a questionable gear change. How can a car with a gearchange everyone says is not good enough be 5 stars. Goes back to my earlier point about everyone wanting a Lotus to be 5 stars. How hard could it be to fix?

You could turn it round to say the competition has dull steering. How could you remedy that? Other than take it to Lotus for fettling...

At the the end of the day if you are not a fan then fine. They are selling like hot cakes and that's the important bit. And anyone who lables Lotus latest cars 'st' is a fking idiot.
