RE: Toyota GT86: PH Fleet
Discussion
Shame Toyota finance is still offering crap rates or I'd be all over it. Primo version saves you £2.5k straight off PLUS the body shop bill of removing the horrible spoiler.
As it is, second hand one still makes too much sense. Plus you can modify... Which is part of the fun really.
I'd love one. On the cards for next year with any luck.

Perfect.
I care not one jot about more power or equipment.
I care even less that a Fiesta ST, Clio 200 or whatever turbo'd hatch has more torque and will cover ground at greater speed. Here's a car that you work with, immerse yourself in, use the tightly packed gear ratios to best effect and find its limits of adhesion more easily more of the time. A drivers car.
Toyota, Subaru, I applaud you

I actually like it on the smaller wheels and with no spoiler. It's more like the paired back race base version they get in Japan.
Looking forward to seeing it at Beaulieu this weekend, my Impreza is on the Method Wheels stand so I'll keep an eye out for the car while I'm wandering round
Absolutely, the original wheels and spoiler did nothing for me, and as a bonus it probably drives better as well. Must buy one once the children can get in the back themselves but before they get too big!Looking forward to seeing it at Beaulieu this weekend, my Impreza is on the Method Wheels stand so I'll keep an eye out for the car while I'm wandering round

I love how people still bang on about 0-60mph times like they like their life a quarter mile at a time. So cute.
It was more to demonstrate that the MX-5 is 'quicker' even though it has less power and costs less.many cars have slow 0-60 but feel, even are in reality, faster on the move.
i had a lovely 2l MX5, but the GT is faster when up and running. Not that i'm bothered either way...

Why bother when you can get a second hand BRZ/GT86 from £14k?
Why would anyone buy a new car when a 2nd hand one is cheaper? New comes at a disproportionate cost given the steep depreciation curve on these.
HTH
The car is identical to mine.
- I like the 16" wheels over the standard 17s, also a bit more compliant on the back roads.
- I have had the car for nearly 3 years. It has stickier tyres now.
- I like the speedo. I even like the non climate control air cond.
- The car is lighter than the full spec version
- Red cost an extra $400 in Australia. White the no cost option. I like flat paint.
- The base model is $33K in OZ compared to $39K for the full spec.
- Just a little dearer than a Clio Sport and significantly cheaper than the Cup.
- Just a little dearer than a Mini Cooper here.
- Car is cheap in OZ.
- A super wheel alignment and a Milltek primary cat back, removed the noise maker and it is sweet.

Anyone who buys one of these, please give me a shout if you 'upgrade' the wheels.
I'd very like a set of those for mine.
I thought yours was going?I'd very like a set of those for mine.
There's a 290bhp Turbo'd one in the PH classifieds at the moment @£21k. One of the demo cars for a company I think. Looks pretty damn nice.
I've just had to get rid of my 2 and half year old GT86. Massive issue with paint chipping and rusting (pearlescent white) at just 18 months old. Toyota franchised dealer tried to repair but the rust started coming back through after just 2 months.
Also, seems like the pearlescent paint is actually impossible to match. Ended up with a multi colour car that I've been forced to sell as a result.
Not only this but problems with the brakes and the electrics - windows would not go up and passenger door lock stopped working.
If this is the more 'basic' model I dread to think of the problems this will encounter long term.
The GT86 is just not fit for purpose. Such a shame as I did love it!

Quite a bold statement. Also, seems like the pearlescent paint is actually impossible to match. Ended up with a multi colour car that I've been forced to sell as a result.

Mine's almost three years old and while it's got a few stone chips on the front, no rust at all. It's been pretty close to perfect - the only issue was a broken coil pack replaced FOC under warranty.
I suspect it was down to over-revving as I have flat-shift and had the rev-limit raised.
