I had a 355, 360 then 430, all Spiders. Fantastic cars but each new version was wider than it's predecessor to the point where I had to get bigger garage doors. Also I like to drive the very narrow country roads near my home. When the 458 came out I decided not to buy as for me it was too big. Now the 488 is bigger again.

Surely there has to be an end to this, the cars can't keep getting wider?

Very pretty car tho. cloud9
As wide as the Testarossa (512 TR)?

It looks amazing. Then you see the air intakes. And you can't stop looking at the air intakes. And they get uglier, and bigger, and uglier every time you look at them...

Agreed, the scoop into the intakes on the rear arches looks awful from the back.

I don't really like modern Ferraris.

I want this so bad, in that colour.

I hadn't liked modern Ferrari's for a while, then they beefed up the California and I thought it looked amazing (one was in town today and sounded great too), now this - really thinking Ferrari are in a bit of a golden age, anyone would think they're trying to attract new investors.... Oh wait...

Hmm, the side profile is nice and the front is a big improvement over the 458 but the side vents look odd and the rear end is awful.

And does anyone think that interior looks good? vomit
The 488 Spider seems to look better with those side vents vs the 458 Spider, though the 458 Speciale looks better than the 488 GTB with the side vents.

The interior kind of reminds me of the Honda S2000.

I couldn't have one with that engine. I would have had a 458 in a heartbeat, but I have zero interest in this. In one step a car goes from being a highly tuned atmospheric to a numbers-by-committee turbo, and where's the excitement in that? The turbos of the 80s were pushing the technology, whereas now marketing picks a number and the IT guy writes a line of code for the face-lift.

It's a bullst emissions legislation which should have no power over low number sports car manufacturers. We're doing our best to make sure petrol cars go out with a whimper, that's for sure.

Now you're talking. A 308gts ? Wonderful, a car with real soul, and not contrived at all.
Indeed but in no way comparable with a 488.
Well actually they are and that was rather my point. The 488 is light yrs better in every objective aspect. Yet I personally would still rather drive across Europe and mooch around Zurich, go to work/use it as my daily driver and play up and down Susten, etc in my old 308GTS than its direct current descendant - said 488. The vast majority would not, but I would. One is instantly cool, the other is trying too hard. Now I freely accept in the Middle and Far East and around West London - the bling wins. For me - no.

Quite right DJRC. Less Is Enough. Because More than Enough Is Too Much.

Absolutely stunning! The colour is magnificent too.

What chance have other manufacturers got when Ferrari constantly keep making gems like this? Almost zero chance methinks.

Looks like Ferrari have taken a leaf out of Fords book, with that colour laugh
