As the Escort Cosworth is getting more mentions the rarest colours I believe are Aubergiene ,also known as

British Racing Brown,Gloss Black and Polaris Grey.

never seen one, very interesting
I remember speccing up a new 182 for my wife, and IIRC, the Petrol Blue was a very expensive option, more expensive than any other colour. It looks very nice, though.

if I may, of my R32:

I also have a thing for red cars now. I also have a 'thing' for audi's in Imola yellow and BMW's in their Individual Techno Violet, but one of my fave rare colour cars is Audi's Merlin Purple. Especially on an RS6 wagon.. yes please.

On the contrary Mallard is one of the most popular Escort Cosworth colours and was available on non Montes.

Mine is Mallard and BTW it was not available for any other models in Fords range.

Tourmallard came later and is different shade.

ETA....apart from 1 Sapphire Cosworth they painted in Mallard, which might have been the last ever car made.

A Sapphire in Mallard? Sounds like my dream car!

As for proper rate things, take the R129 SL. The Designo models were very limited. I think the colours were 150 models apiece. My dad used to have a Mystic Green SL320, there was also a Merlot type colour and a blue one, I think.

Not 100% certain but that car might be in the "Bonkers" collection in Wales.

Is this colour not Brass?

You can narrow down a BMW Approved Used Car search to those in Individual colours and see what there is available now. There are a few in different shades of purple, plus the bright green. http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/get-cars-1.aspx

Liquid yellow metallic was another expensive and ultimately rare colour on the 182

I never saw any of these about but since buying one, bluewater metallic seems to be everywhere. Though yet to see another 335d on the road, hoping I never do as I genuinely thought the colour was a little rarer than it clearly is! The one in the pic isn't mine so there's at least one other bd lurking somewhere

Hi there,

Strangely I spotted one in this colour a couple of weeks ago and liked it so much I thought I'd grab a photo whilst at the traffic lights.

Lovely colour

That was a colour I saw at I think the 1990 Motorshow. My friend who was with me at the time was so taken with the colour that he had a customised Fender Stratocaster guitar made in that Porsche shade.

You don't see many like this. My MGF in Jewish Racing (or Sienna) Gold
