Cars in colours you don't see often

I remember falling in love with the Rubystone 911 3.6 Turbo which Georg Kacher tested in Car.

I remember having a 3 year old 964 Turbo 3.3 in Rubystone in the mid nineties and couldn't sell it for love nor money...! Ended trading it in for a brand new 993 C2 and paying a good few quid to do so.....!

Rare call on a big Audi. Back in sixth form, circa 1992, we saw an ur Quattro in Shepards in Bishop’s Stortford in this or a very similar hue. Never seen one since!
i know where they got the idea for the colour from.Edited by RelentlessForwardProgress on Wednesday 20th February 21:48

Look at this picture from 1985 - a cross section of family cars and hatchbacks from an average German town. The variety of colours is amazing - can you imagine someone in your office turning up in a brand new citrus yellow 5 series, a powder blue E class or a snot green Mondeo today?
Hours of fun to be had trying to identify the cars in the photo (the word fun is used in its widest possible sense) daytona111r said:

Ruby red on this E46 M3. Remember watching a video with an E46 in the same colour. Imola red is my ultimate colour for the E46 if I was ever in a position to own one.
I always wanted the coupe with the extended ivory leather. Nice F31 340i on the forum in Individual Ruby...
And nice to get away from a black interior too...

Fords in ‘Silver Fox’ - it all peels off!
Ah - that’s just triggered off memories of an old object of desire. A 1600E in Aubergine.Wash it - t-cut it - wax it and if you were really lucky it would make it though the week without turning white

Damask Red - that was the one that did it for me

I went to look at an amber gold one, once. Wash it - t-cut it - wax it and if you were really lucky it would make it though the week without turning white
It turned ME white Yuck!
REGARDING THE CIVIC - can't be bothered resizing the picture!
Anyhow, back on topic the Pirates Black paint job is a fantastic choice, it's a great Honda colour used on older MB6 Civics VTI and Accord Type Rs - you could only ever buy EP3 Civics in Night Hawk Black which is a rather plain looking metallic black.

Pity about the plate and exhaust. Why do people do THAT
Both are a little OTT & spoil the car. Though it must be said as a Civic Type R owner I found it VERY hard to find a aftermarket exhaust that looks the same as the OEM twin pipe & ended up with a Spoon N1 single 3inch outlet. The closest match with twin 2.5" outlets is a Fujisubu system that costs £££££££££££Anyhow, back on topic the Pirates Black paint job is a fantastic choice, it's a great Honda colour used on older MB6 Civics VTI and Accord Type Rs - you could only ever buy EP3 Civics in Night Hawk Black which is a rather plain looking metallic black.
