Lol @ another of these threads.

If the car felt OK for you and you are happy, then why believe everyone else? Remember, people only write bad reviews, they never share the good experiences.

I wouldn't pay a deposit or place an order for a car Ive never driven , let alone a £40K car.
Good job he's had two test drives in it then.

If it was 'perfect for your needs', didn't seem underpowered 'to you' and it rode OK 'to you' then why let reviews by people who almost certainly don't have the same requirements as you influence your decision...

In the olden pre-internet days you would test drive a car and think 'I like that, I think I'll buy it'.... now, people go home and read other people's opinions and change their mind based on those rather than their own direct experience!
This.

Get it bought man. I'm sure it will be perfect for your needs. Always trust your first instinct.

If Clarkson says a cars crap, it's sure to be a good 'un for example.
+2

additionally if your main concern is potholes and comfort then fit the smallest dia wheels possible both to better absorb the holes and avoid tyre and wheel damage; read the handbook to find the options for wheels - over ten years this will easily pay for itself and the larger dia wheels will be in new condition when you come to sell smile

I think it is a great car and you obviously like it as you had a couple of test drives and put a deposit down.Lexus are probably the most reliable cars you can buy, they are very well made and will be better than most cars when driving over your pot holes.Whatever the car testers say about a cars handling and suspension or the engine power its all subjective and a normal driver like yourself will think that all aspects of the Lexus are great.

Dont ask for your deposit back and collect your new car later this year you will love it.

But the thing is reviews are subjective, and if it seemed good to you when you test drove it then why suddenly change it? If you doing a lot of town driving and short trips then do you need outright power?

And who actually drives deliberately over pot holes?

Thank you so much for your replies. Of course you are right, all opinions are subjective, so why I started to question my own view I do not know. I did not find any problems with power myself, also I did like the ride. Yes, I could have taken it to some poorer road surfaces but I am sure it will cope. In fact I have since read some reports on Lexus forums and some owners have said the ride is good and they have no idea why some think it is not. At the end of the day I am sure it will be a lovely car. So thank you for your input, it is very much appreciated.

I bought a car that barely gets 2 stars in most reviews. Why did I buy it? Because, on the test drive I loved it! Far more than the cars they gave 4 or 5 stars to. As the Dude would say, "it's just your opinion man".

My 17 year old son has a 2003 Toyota Yaris 1.0 ltr and when I drive it the ride, suspension and the power for the size of the car is pretty good so I am sure a 40k Lexus petrol hybrid SUV will be fine.

We get this all the time now, people coming in to buy a car based solely on reviews off the net.
I find it bizarre, form your own opinion and if you're happy with it, buy the thing!
