4 years ago I agreed a great deal on my ideal 355, black on black (nero) manual targa, 99 R plate for 35k. Turned it down as my TVR felt more alive but that 355 is now worth almost double. This was the car on the day I agreed the deal (changed my mind the day after)

8 or 9 years ago I had the opportunity to buy a Ferrari Dino for a similar price ?

About 3 years ago I could of brought a ferrari 308GTB it was running but had front accident damage, but came with all the parts needed to repair it for £8000 I didnt buy it stupidly, but more recently in fact just this year I did purchase a 1990 964 C2 cabriolet running but needed work for £3700 biggrin
Another 308GTB here - when £35k would have bought a decent one. Bugger.

Just few years ago, a Silver F335 Berlinetta for £28k IIRC, my brother in law suggested we go halves on it for the craic. I wouldn't normally have joined such a venture with him as he's a crap driver and wasteful with his money (which he's not short of), but I had the cash ready. He dithered for a couple of weeks, but when we were ready to go the car was gone, to OZ, to a PHer I believe.

With my £14k went and looked at a Silver 1992 911 C2 Cabriolet in York. Had a few niggles that would have taken a couple of grand to sort so I slept on it one day too many. Saw if for sale again last year for £25k.

Ferrari 328GTS around 2008. Could have had a really good one for about £25k. I couldn't really afford it but my then OH, who had a house which she'd paid peanuts for many years previously, told me she'd put it on her mortgage and I could pay the difference - a slightly odd arrangement, I admit - but it would have got the job done. The only thing stopping me was that we had no garage and there was nowhere else suitable I could have kept it. I now live in a house with a warm, dry, double garage but Ferrari 328s are £75k plus. Bugger!

Porsche 993 Turbo in polar silver about 4/5 years ago, around the high £30s. Bought a V8V instead...

About 20 years ago - I saw a Red Alfa 33 Cloverleaf for sale in the middle of the week - phoned dealer saturday morning to check they still had it - they did bouncewoohoo so jumped in the car after lunch to drive the hour or so journey to go and see it - they had taken a deposit on it just before lunch. It was sitting there with a sold sign on it - it was beautiful weeping

Back in the mid 80's I was offered an Aston DB6 for £4000. Looked, doggy, rough, whole heap of trouble.

997.2 GT3 in 2013. I could have bought a low mileage one for £70k, I bought a new GTR instead. They're north of £120k now! Gutted.

Yep. 348 were down at 25k and now 45k. I couldn't have stretched to a F355 but a 348 I could have afforded!

I remember Austin rover selling the. Off for about 15k, but I didn't have the money to buy one,

But if this thread is about cars you actually went to buy but didn't, then for me it was a chevette 2.6 HSR. Freshly built by mtrs in burton upon Trent from all the right bits in white with the dealer sport flashes. Up for 4k, but I bought a mk1 Astra sr instead (insurance, doh)

Always wonder what happened to it.

Princess Diana's Ford Escort Ghia - the car she drove when she came engaged and had enormous press coverage.

Aged 10 my dad took me to classic car auction pre view at blackbushe and I could see it was a car to buy, it was reserved at £1500 and sold for around that figure, this was the early 1990s.

The car was worth that even it was just a normal escort, apparently worth / sold for two million pounds and now in a now a museum piece.

One of these. About 2005 if I recall. A runner and in very good condition. £8995 I seem to remember (auto not manual). Still a bargain today as the last of the real Daytona V12 engined Ferraris...but sadly even at £20k plus too much for me....

A very tidy Alfasud Cloverleaf for 500 notes back in the 90s, not for investment purposes just I'll probably not the chance now.

Not as exciting or as expensive as those listed, but I spotted a lovely Legacy Spec B about 5 months ago. While I deliberated it went, and another tidy example I have yet to see.

It taught me that next time I'll just take a punt.

In the early 70's, I was offered the choice of a Jaguar MKII or an Austin 1300. For some bizarre reason I took the Austin. I shake my head when I think of it to this day!!
