On the PH Classifieds - ZT-T V8 22K miles only - guess the price (it is pretty mint for a car which spent 7 years unsold!!)

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

That said, the ZT-T here is VERY cheap, they usually go for a couple-of-grand, so I'm guessing this one has issues (no interior pics? been used as a skip??) smile

Not another Rover! hehe

I hate cheap plastic fake "wood" panels!

I heard, real wood veneer panels were fitted to the early 75 models...is this true?

I think it switched to plastic when the passenger air-bag was introduced.

Yes, it is true. They changed in about mid 2002 IIRC.

It would have to be the MG for me, especially in that colour - looks lovely!

Also not sure the diesel Rover qualifies for "PH - Speed Matters". I had an E46 Compact with the 150 bhp diesel and that was no ball of fire - I'm sure the Rover Estate with 120bhp variant would have me nodding off!

Probably great for wafting or motorways but a snoozefest!

Even if not that rapid at least V6 Petrol MG would sound a whole lot nicer!

They do crop up very occasionally in 75 form. Seems at the moment the choice is:

£8k (Cat D), £8k, 16.5k, or £30k.

Thinking: pipe, slippers and cap. It was a desperate era for Rover. It was just too late and although the car was okay, it said 'old man' from bumper to bumper.

The V8's are starting to appreciate and collect a cult following now they're getting even rarer. I bought mine recently and love it-thread below.

It's a flawed, but brilliantly handsome and characterful beast. It's not that sprightly off the line but the in gear punch is massive and it really does handle neatly for a big old saloon with a weighty engine in the front. It never fails to make me grin when I drive it and you're guaranteed theatrics, even when driving it slowly.

The KV6 ZT is a great thing too-unfortunately the engine doesn't quite have the muscle to cart the bulk of the car along (it prefers revs-hence why it suits the lighter ZS well) but it's smooth, sounds good and again the car is a very rewarding, accurate steer.

For me, the pre-facelift 75/ZT is one of the prettiest modern saloon cars-in the right spec and colour they can look utterly wonderful.

They're decent looking cars, but far from 'achingly pretty'. IMO.
You were probably still at primary school when it came out and the Italians (at the time they were producing the Alfa 156!) voted the Rover 75 the most beautiful car in production at the time. Still, whatever sinks your hovercraft!

Three years ago I got a ZTT CDTI just as a cheap dog wagon. However I was very suprised how good they go round corners, even compared to some more sporty cars.

The big change came though when I added a Rover Ron box and it transforms the cars everyday drivability and performance and is probably almost on par with the V6. I've had the clutch done (it was high miles when I got it) and that's it.

They look smart, good motorway cruisers and can suprise a few hatchback hooners. Downside is some parts are hard to get back box for instance and heating the cabin from autumn onwards is almost non existent for 30 mins.

These were a bit cool back in the day with the V8. Went out with a bang. A company that lost its way and now they are back they still have not found it.

This is often touted but no one ever provides a source for it. In saying "the Italians", you imply that it was the population of Italy. Was the survey done by referendum?

I've also heard this claimed about the X308 Jaguar XJ and the MGB.

I'm a big fan of the 75 and the XJ but I haven't seen anything credible to suggest that 'the Italians' are particularly enamoured of the Rover 75.

It was reported at the time. The one source I can find for it is from a Filipino newspaper:

I think it was actually the Rover 600 which won such an award in Italy. The 75 might have done so as well but I can't remember it doing so.
