I find nearly all forms of motorsport dull. Used to occasionally go to British GP's in the 80s as my mates were fans but spent most the time spotting and admiring classics in the car park. Went to a stage of the RAC rally in mid-70s and that was quite a thrill. In contrast I am getting increasingly interested in Tour de France although I am not a keen cyclist myself. The way the Grand Depart in Yorkshire last year was covered was a masterstroke in selling the sport to a new audience.

I work in F1, and haven't even watched a race this season, bar the qualifying at silverstone, and I only went to take my dad. I have to pretend that I'm interested so my colleagues don't complain about it - the disbelief when I told them I refuse to get sky tv because it's too expensive and I don't watch it! 'Well what about the f1 channel?' Never mind, I do fine without!

Having said that, I love cars! I change cars all the time, once I buy one I'm usually bored within a month and spend the next few months looking into what to get next. I wish I'd trained as a mechanic and often think about retraining!

Im a huge petrolhead and motorsport fan however I have changed that I don't work my life around f1 the only race ive seen all the way through was the last one and to the same extent rallying bores the tits of me.
However I will always be a big fan of the btcc and will watch the full 7hr footage on itv4. Back when I was 18 or so when I got my license it was all about going to car shows attended plenty but as times gone on now only 22 myself ive got bored of car shows and will only attend ones with track action jap fest/ performance action days at combe etc where I normally hold a stand for the local mx5 group.
The main reason for the decline in going to car shows is track days since getting my exocet track car I much prefer doing a full track day than a car show, looking to go into more competition based events next years.

As for road cars tbh new cars don't interest me in the slightest the only new cars I would actually want to own is either the mk4 mx5 or the gt86/brz tie up due to prefer light weight low power cars. getting the most out of a small but good handling car up a country lane in wales where I live is far more thrilling than going in a straight line with a super car. What car do I own atm yep a mk1 mx5.
Im not that bothered by main stream supercars but am interested in the lesser known brands and also home made mad builds like the skoda roomster with a audi tt rs running gear underneath it things like taking something boring into something that makes people stop and chat to the owner of the vehicle etc.
