Just come back from Bayswater by the route I checked out. Surprisingly quiet in Notting Hill and Shepherds Bush but the fun started at Hammersmith Broadway. Nothing was moving and it even took me 5mins to get around it on the Vespa.

It might be a bit odd running Ride London in another city.
Honestly every city has events like this, as do other places. F1 cuts the country in half and makes it a pain in the arse to get anywhere for two days if you live within 30 miles of Silverstone.
It's a good event by all accounts that encourages cycling, is free for everyone. The only problem I find is the few knobs on the ride round the city that refuse to accept that crossings and traffic regs still apply. Trying to cross embankment can be a pain.

Please do not do that because the causes I am sure are very worthy......just apologise for organising it in a way that effects so many other people (who's the selfish one ?)Talk about self interest......

Have to agree with his stance on marshals though.
Unfortunately people seem to forget London is a working city which doesn't just stop at 5pm on Friday, well it does for a lot of people but for the brave, talented & hardy souls who toil on through the weekends these disruptions are just something we have to put up with.
Yes there is public transport but at weekends I often still have to drive as it doesn't start early enough.
I think the issue with this event is that it's over the whole weekend and the closures start earlier than normal.
The irony is that it has made cycling to work a right pain this weekend.

We live near Sheen Gate . An entrance to Richmond Park, which is part of the route. All morning long we''ve had poor souls trying to rat run around the road closures. But, there's nowhere for them to go.
There's some very frustrated motorists around these parts at present. Me and 'Master B are just about to pop out to watch the pros stream by. We live on a rather tricky part of the route. There was almost carnage last year. Not least with the chase vehicles.
