Left the window open during a recent downpour and ended up getting the drivers footwell very wet and the doorcard pocket was holding about half a litre of rainwater....

needless to say the car now stinks...

ive been leaving silica crystals / cat litter stuff in a box in the car each night but any other remedies to draw out the moisture and hopefully the damp aroma

If it's a BMW then you need to get all the water out of the 1.5" thick foam on the underside of the carpet.

Hire a dehumidifier from a local tool hire company. Plug it in and leave it for a few hours/overnight, they work brilliantly.

It's going to be hot and sunny tomorrow

Fling open all doors and leave it like that all day (assuming you have a driveway)

Or most other cars.
Right diagnosis though.

Yup, and just make sure the interior lights don't stay on....

Check things like the spare wheel compartment (if it has one) to make sure there isn't a six inch deep lake in there!

Slight tangent, but I've noticed quite a few cars turn off their interior lights if a door/boot is left open for any length of time. Wonder if it's just a coincidence with the cars I've had or if it's commonplace?

It pretty much depends on how modern/sophisticated the car is. A 1995 Fiesta will leave the light on until the battery dies, but a 2015 Range Rover will turn the light off after a certain period.
