I don't think there underrated. They are just disliked. I imagine purely for the image they portray.

I do keep looking at these when browsing at small hot hatchbacks. They do seem to get a bit of a rep as a chav-mobile but i think any car in this segment doesn't really stray away from that stereotype. I don't think that alone would be enough to not consider one for me.

I do like the looks of them. I quite enjoy a brash and stand-out car rather than it looking like just any other Corsa. I must admit the fuel economy and tax for a 1.6T is quite alot. It's about the same as a MK5 Golf GTI but they do appear to be good value. I saw a 12 plate face-lift model with sat-nav, 18" alloys and low miles for 9 grand.

Although, i have recently only just found out that they don't even come with a temperature gauge as standard. Bit shocking really, especially with all the issues with piston 4 going bang. It does put me off somewhat. Think i'd rather wait for Fiesta ST's to drop in value to under 10 grand all in all.

I don't think ALL Corsa VXR will be chavs, but the majority of owners around where I live who have them are of a certain sort.

There's one local to us that drives dangerously everywhere he goes. He was ragging it outside the local primary a few weeks ago when I was picking my son up (wooshing and dumping his turbo) and he nearly hit my wife head on yesterday when he was on the wrong side of the road overtaking four cars.
