Anyone on here tried it out?

I have tried it 4 times now and 3 times it has failed....

On the occasion it worked, it worked fine but every other time I've tried it the app takes forever to respond (the spinner keeps spinning at the top of the screen) or else there was a "technical issue"

Just wondering if it's me or the app....

Why not just use pay at the pump?

Can you collect the Drivers Club points if you pay at the pump?

Are there any shell garages without Pay at Pump? I haven't seen one in years.

The three I use don't have it.

Fair enough, must be a regional thing I suppose. The four or five I use around here all have it, as do all the local supermarkets. smile

I think the idea is that fill up and go is quicker than PAP or better.

In this case the OP didn't ask whether he should use PAP, but whether others had issues with FUAG. Using PAP doesn't help with his finding out whether the problem is the app or with his phone.

Exact opposite for me! Supermarkets have it, can't think of any others that do (though I only use Shell).

OP, I assume you've checked you are actually connected to the internet at the time? It's possible reception is just really crap in the station you're using?

I've checked that I am connected to the internet (3G) at the time, I have only tried two stations, failed twice and worked once at the first and failed at the other, this is when I have actually got it to progress through to the screen where you scan the QR code, sometimes it doesn't even get that far!

Edited to say - I think they may be having issues with the integration, I suspect it's not quite ready for mass adoption yet

I've not seen pay at pump at a Shell garage before. I have seen their fill up and go but not convinced by it, it seems like a bit of a bodge to me, Shell trying to re-invent the wheel, when there is already Apple Pay and Google Pay etc. Also, I've not seen anywhere if you get the Shell loyalty points by using the app.

I was asked if I want a shell drivers club card once. Just had a look again and if I buy 500 litres of diesel @ 1 point per litre I earn a £2.50 reward. Let's say that a litre of diesel is about £1.16 at the moment. So for spending £580 on diesel with them, I would get £2.50, or essentially 0.43% cash back.

At the time I was using about 50 litres of diesel a week so it would take about 10 weeks to earn the reward, which works out to 25p a week.

I think I'll drive down there now and sign up!

As with any loyalty programme it rewards if you're buying the stuff anyway.....
I only ever use Shell or BP at a push so I get 2 points per litre of V Power or Nectar Points (which can be used to actually pay for stuff in Sainsburys)

Where are you supposed to use the app? On the forecourt where it says "no mobile phone use"? (Yes I know mobile phone use in a petrol station has zero risk attached to it, but some stations are still sticklers against it.)

What I don't get is how the staff know it's been paid straight away and is not a drive off? It can't notify them instantly, surely?

I don't know what it is about Shell stations, but all the ones around here are the most run down, knackered filling stations around. The attached Shops are all run by Asian chaps selling 4 day old samosas and Knock off iPhone chargers.
