Put simply, it's another way of screwing more money from us.

Alas, Someone who works in insurance will be along in a moment to me how I'm wrong and try and justify it in a round-about sort of way.
I have a feeling it came out less for some reason

Well I'll have to check my policy, I work from different sites and sometimes swap to another site part way through the day. One site is 6 miles away, the other 22 miles away and my main office is 22 miles away. Often the closer site is one I start or finish at, this is purely for work purposes and never to let me have longer in bed or escape earlier of course... Curiously I never need to swap from the closer site to further one part through the day!

I don't claim mileage either from work or the tax man as it's normally an advantage to me to swap sites. I've never added business cover but I think for peace of mind I will from now on.

Educational as always PH smile

I work for the NHS too, and I know they are very strict on this - in order to be eligible to claim travel expenses, I have to (annually) present my driving licence and certificate of insurance to my manager, to prove that I have business cover.
ditto well run charities and a lot of private sector organisations

class1 business use shouldn;t add much

one issue that has arisen for emergency services personnel ( paid or volunteer) is a presumption that busienss use includes response work - but generally the priemum loadings there have been significantly larger or refused to quote.
