Why not say used Ferrari too, just to make it an even more irrelevant point.
A used Ferrari for 24k ?? I am in , again it's a very fair point , you spend your money how you want so it's quite normal to consider all options when buying a car , new or used ? Just cause it's new don't mean its good And whilst you may prefer an Elise on paper, an MX5 has always been an everyday car and is very usable. Not something you can say about an Elise.
And thats before you take into account the ease of ownership too. A mate of mines wife got an Elise as "something different" to use as an every day car. It was genuinely forever being trailered away by the lotus dealer with something wrong with it. I think they eventually had to replace the whole car for her.

People who ordered the 2.0 early should not have their vehicle delayed by the Zebrugge issue.
Hope that helps.
Not sure it does - one guy on the MX5 Owners Club forum ordered his on 9th March and is impacted. I ordered mine on 3rd May and am impacted too.Hope that helps.
Per the PH article that mentioned unanticipated numbers for the 2.0, I get that dates have slipped but it's extremely disappointing to have gone from a range of 1st Sep - 1st Oct with at least my dealership being cautiously optimistic (in fairness with due caveats) about it potentially arriving late in August to now being told "late October", and even that isn't confirmed.
(My paperwork actually has an estimated delivery date of 13th August, but again that's because I ordered early enough that they had to put it through as an NC...)
Seems to be random than first suggested then. Someone I know order their car in January (without even seeing a picture!) and she's suffered no delays yet.
Sorry to hear your car has been delayed, hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Yeah, I'll keep sharing as I hear more - couple more folks on the MX5 Forum posted overnight that they're impacted. All a bit of a shame really.Seems to be random than first suggested then. Someone I know order their car in January (without even seeing a picture!) and she's suffered no delays yet.

My friend was told he'd get a £150 voucher for accessories, but very few others have heard anything about any compensation.

If you are that worried about 10mpg difference then maybe you shouldn't be looking to spend money on a new depreciating asset? Life is to short to worry about miles per gallon! It's not like it does 5mpg.
I think you need to check your maths.34mpg for the 2.0 vs 55mpg+ I get now is a pretty big difference. 21mpg in raw numbers or a rather larger percentage.
I typically do maybe 12,000 - 14,000 miles a year.
Depreciation is a different cost and not one you have to pay out each month, while fuel is.

Ok, well a 20mpg difference from 55-35 doing 14k miles a year is roughly £900 mark. So about £75 a month more. It's not that much is it. The 34mpg quoted was on 'fast A-roads', I'd imagine if you are managing 55mpg and upwards you drive pretty conservatively. I'd say 40mpg+ would be easily attainable with that MX-5.
It isn't the be all and end all no, I agree. But it is quite a difference. And that's why I was asking how they got the 34mpg figure, as I'm sure if it was a press car, then maybe it had been trashed (OBC mpg), or if it's the mpg they actually got from their driving. And no, don't drive conservatively at all.

Yep, I'm in the same situation as you - I pre-ordered a 2.0 SE-L Nav at the beginning of April, original delivery date 1-Sept, got a call from MazdaUK on Monday to tell me that the car is delayed and to expect 9-Oct as the delivery date... Was really keen to get it while there is still a chance of some "good" weather about! My friend was told he'd get a £150 voucher for accessories, but very few others have heard anything about any compensation.

They didn't give me a date at all, and I was supposed to be third week of September. I reached out to my dealer to ask them to try and get some more details for me and they were about as useful as a chocolate teapot.Still, Goodwood FOS was sunny I suppose, so I guess that counts for something?
The ND mx5 has me genuinely excited about a new car for the first time in years. Affordable, light weight (under a ton for 1.5?), good handling, styling looks good to my eyes. Hopefully get a test drive with view to buy next year.
I was always firmly in the camp of why buy a new car when they are heavy, over complicated, over wheeled, expensive, but the mx5 looks like something I would be prepared to buy new. Sweeter 1.5 for me please.
Anyone had a test drive yet?
