Outside our house today..... I really can't see why they bothered - the hole they filled was about as deep as the one they ignored....

Total waste of time, but leaving potholes would surely be cheaper than building chicanes or speed humps!

Don't you just love living in the UK - especially now it is getting to be 3rd world!!

Even better is that the repair is already disintegrating.

Usually a quick repair whilst they sort out the finer details of the real repair to happen.

A similar thing is done on the streets around where I live.
They have just done a few pot holes at the end of my drive and ignored others that are as bad if not worse.

To see them doing the repairs is funny.
Put the repair medium in the pot hole out of the plastic bucket and depending on the size of the hole either stamp on it with their boots or drive the work truck backward and forward over the repaired area.

Needless to say the repairs don't last long and its not long before you can hear the road repair flying around the wheel arches when driving down the road.

They have been using the same type of repairs on the street I live on for at least 5 years and its now getting to the stage that its more repair/ pot holes than good road surface.

Shocking state of uk roads is brought home very quickly when you see how much better they are in most other countries. Uk councils prefer to spend on stupid stuff and then pretend hey can't afford pad repairs. Cretins.

last time we had were told of surface dressing, I shuddered, thinking of the previous. But this time, they fixed up the potholes first ( strangely enough made a better job than before) and hen used a lot finer chips than before. Result, little chips flying around, but still gunk on shoes for a few days. Few years alter, it's still looking good, with no bald patches.

If they surface dressed, given the traffic on our road it would take years to run the stones in...

Should 1 council employee sit in what is generally a "private sector" contracted out conpanies vehicle to ensure they are fulfilling the contract correctly rather than actually trust them to be doing the job properly as per the contract and good practice ?

https://onlineforms.northyorks.gov.uk/citizenportal/form.aspx?form=Report_a_pothole

not sure if your north yorkshire ?

if not look for your area

I reported a pot hole at the end of my street

It was "repaired" within 2 days like the repair you show ie spray tar and fill with cr..
I reported it again saying terrible repair the last attempt

It was dug out properly and repaired

That was 2 years ago and it is still ok now
