I'm loving this thread......

Recently following some chavvy VW Golf with a badly spaced plate, where upon my son piped up from the back seat....
"daddy, is that supposed to spell Darren?"

I replied, "I guess so son, why do you ask?",

"well if it is, it's a bit pants isn't it!?"

He's 9

Lets face it, if you can't fool an impressionable 9YO then you're better off giving up!biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
I hope you're teaching the little one how to be open minded and accepting of others in that their likes and dislikes may differ but that should not be used a means of ridicule?
That would be human nature.

Blue BMW in Scarborough at the weekend sporting T B11ATE and 'Thomas Bate' in small letters at the bottom of the plate.

The speeding photo is obviously not a Rolls Royce. I wonder why ANPR wasn't effective and it took a Traffic Warden to bring him to book?

ANPR speed traps are 100% automatic as far as I am aware. A computer reads the plate. A computer determines the speed. A computer correlates the number plate to the registered keeper and their address. A machine sends the letter. The first human in the link is the postman.

I don't think there is a photo in the first letter, just a notice of intended prosecution and a way to pay.

It's only if you appeal that a human from the authorities gets involved.

Got a 15 minute sit in a police car on Sunday, for some "education" about the dangers of the Evo triangle.
Also received a caution slip for my chav plate while, which is the initial reason I got stopped.
You were misbehaving in this? smile

It does gave a chav plate.

Do people actually go on holiday in those things? I can't think of anything more miserable
They do.

Im off round France for three weeks in August, going to have a miserable time.

Maybe it's me, but I quite like that random nutters of the public don't know my name by looking at my car. Say Thomas Bate gestures me and drives off, and I was a dribbling knuckle dragger with three brain cells. I could use 2.5 of those to search the Internet for local Thomas Bate's and go smash his car/face in.

Well done, Thomas!

That is so bizarre, so he creates someone else plate, runs around on them, with no insurance and gets fined £1200, which is less than it would have cost him to insure the Ferrari in the first place. With fines like that, why bother staying legal? It is just totally wrong, he should have been made an example of, instead of showing that anyone can do it with minimal risk!!!

That someone who is a 'bus' spotter (I mean ffs) has the cheek to question someone's number plate preferences.

In fact the other person to question number plate preferences is someone who goes on 3 weeks holidays living, eating and stting in a thirty year old camper van.

Honestly I'd get a private plate simply to not be grouped with the social misfits / nerds on this thread lol

Those damn NERDS with their legible number plates. How dare they.

You should translate your number plate into wingdings and use a wordart font to print the plate. Then mount it in your windscreen. That'll learn them all. Surely you will have the last laugh.

I was just up there this Sunday. It's only 30min away from the house so I tend to go quite often when the weather is nice.

Not seen any police up there, it's usually dead quiet when I go around 8-9pm. What time did you get stopped and what did they say were the dangers? (Other than the nasty camber on some of the corners past Llyn Brenig)

Why? Because someone who is a 'bus' spotter (I mean ffs) has the cheek to question someone's number plate preferences?!

Honestly, those people who don't know how to edit their posts and end up quoting it just to remove one word.

I'm sure you've a hobby or interest that others would say "(I mean ffs)" about.

Having looked at your previous responses in this thread I think you're here simply to wind people up.

Oh, and just for good measure, you don't practice what you preach, clearly:

Sorry ipad issues re double post and I'm not having to teach my kids on this thread as they are not on it smile

If you are going to ridicule people's choices, just remember those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones - bus spotter with a clipboard, vw camper van for a 3 week holidays - honestly I could probably list out many things but you get a sense of what I mean.
