I'd like to think they flag up as "unreadable plate" and get stuck in a pile for some manual investigation - someone tries to figure out what it should be, then flags it for further attention. Maybe not a visit, but a thing to be watched out for. Realistically it probably doesn't happen, though.
Here's a candidate from a FB photo about a local car show:
Actually is screams "I spent all my money on this car, I have no money for a decent plate, or anything else - this is my entire life on 4 wheels"Here's a candidate from a FB photo about a local car show:
Nothing wrong with that, but really should re-mortgage again and get a decent plate.
Of course you can't leave the original plate on it, as that just screams "It's not even my car, I'm leasing it and have to give it back soon!"

What do you mean become? It's always been a ghastly Chav-fest.
Puerto Banus was the epitome of the triumph of very questionable money over even more questionable taste when I used to spend school holidays in Marbella as a spotty yoof in the mid to late 1970's
Fair enough. I went a couple of weeks ago. Spent less than an hour there. Someone misinformed me it was or had been nice. Spotted this beauty at Northampton Services yesterday afternoon.
Not a genuine 2.7 RS, but still very nice!
Stolen from the "Supercars spotted" thread. Lovely, lovely car, registration is 7755 K which in itself is a pretty good plate. I'm sure I've seen it somewhere, Donington perhaps, and thought those "S" look a bit iffy. Not a genuine 2.7 RS, but still very nice!
