Yes. I've wanted one since 1984 too. Apparently the cassette player only plays Collins after dark.
And Russ Ballard when the sun sets....

To cover all bases? Probably a UR RS6. Big, 4WD, (very) fast, not too flashy but you'll never feel under-dressed and fast. I'd rather a UR RS4 but I don't think we'd get our intended dogs in the boot (seats up) so it doesn't really fit the "all bases" thing.

One dream car? Today it's an XJ220, but tomorrow? Who knows? I'm fickle like that.

I'd possibly get the XJR fully restored (and slightly tinkered with) and have that for both (just no dogs). biggrin

Interesting thread OP. I'd go for a top of the range full fat Range Rover - probably all the car you'd ever need and more. Something like this one:

Impossible question...
Mine at this moment would be a Porsche 959, give me 5 minutes though and it will have changed.

Others here have nominated several of my fantasy "one car" ownership selections, but, in the unlikely event that Ms Kirsty Young ever should telephone and invite me to be her next guest on the BBC Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs, my luxury item to take to the island will be a 1929 4.5 Supercharged "W.O." Bentley.

I shall drive this along the beach of at sun downer time every evening, only stopping to pick a few limes off the trees while en route to my home-built gin distillery, further down the coast......

You can all have your exotics, driving into town the other day I had to admit to myself, that since I fitted the air conditioning, my Triumph TR7 is the nicest road cruising car I have ever driven.

Clearly a wise man who has found happiness in that which he already possesses. A lesson to us all.

But I still want an F1. smile

If it's a gift I'd like the most expensive car in the world, then I'd sell it. Hypothetically a billionaire?
Koeniggsegg Regera probably.

I'm confused as to the interpretation of this thread. Is it

1. The one car you want more than any other ?
or
2. You're only allowed one car so which would it be ?

If it's 1. Then probably and F12

2. Would have to be a RS6 Avant
To those that say some street legal race car. Really, any time you had to go to the shops you'd have to get the bus. Anytime you're going with anyone else, you'd have to take the bus,. Any time you came near a speed hump you'd have to park up and walk. You'd need a full team of engineers just to start the thing. 3 hour motorway journey? on the train. Any chance of any traffic, yep it's the bus again.Trip to the Airport with a bit of luggage, Taxi.......

Two very different questions

As for blinding through the gates of Hell on my last trip, I've got a Harley that'll do fine for that purpose!

Wonderfully impossible topic and it's just great to speculate...so many to choose. But, I don't hesitate in going for my all time best car: a Ferrari 500 Superfast. Just look at it!

Just got to get the eight figure sum together and wait for one to come along....

+1

Been my fav car since reading a restoration story many years ago in Classic & Sports Car by a chap who (if memory serves) was found or was offered it as a barn find - Made by Ferrari and called by them 'Superfast'. This is my choice too.

1936 Austin 16/6 York. Old coachbuilt big Austin on a proper chassis, now on all Jaguar straight six running gear, Sherpa hubs, Pontiac power steering etc. Guzzles fuel, not very fast, handles like a pig on a roller skate (especially in the wet) but makes every trip an adventure...

For me it would have to be a Datsun 240z Super Samuri. Good looks, decent performance and I've always wanted one.
