One day a man pushing a buggy with his offspring in walked past Catriona Stewart and gouged her deliberately with his keys - but that's OK...

That's what I deduced, an inflammatory article written by a moron designed to generate web traffic, either that or its a a satirical news site. Though if it is the latter they need to work on the humour factor.

"Aston Martin V8 Vanquish". A new model I've not heard of before.

but that's just it Pesty - the person I was responding to said "I hope he gets his face keyed" (I've emphasised the hope obviously), just like you I really couldn't given a st were he to be set-upon in jail for similar reasons to you... I just had issues with the wishing someone permanent harm for vandalising what is "just a car"

I understand I wasn't having a dig.

I would be interested to see this guys history though. I really don't think you get to his age and just think ill scratch that car.

Then again I might just be projecting. As the thought of damaging or stealing other people's property has never crossed my mind.

she's not quite the ticket is she? One might imagine her political stance is somewhat to the left as evidenced by her seeming hatred of something she doesn't understand or agree with

If anyone here is on Twitter (I'm not) they might like to bring this to the attention of Henry Faure Walker @FaureWalker, CEO of Newsquest who own the paper in question. As CEO of a large publishing firm I suspect he doesn't drive a Trabant or live in a council flat so I wonder how he feels about one of his employees urging the public to vandalise pricey cars.

It's an interesting view of the world really. Expensive cars are only driven by bad peope, so it's a good thing that they get vandalised.
But a nissan Leaf is around the £30k mark (so not a paticularly cheap runabout) and has a range of 100 miles, meaning you would probably need another car for longer journeys.
It's almost enough to make me sign up so I can reply to the drivel, but I'm aware that the whole point of it is clickbait.

I think what we've all missed is that the article is under the "Opinion" section of the newspaper. Catriona Stewart is entitled to her opinion, but she should aslo be responsible for her opinion if it incites others to do the same.

My "opinion" is that Ms Stewart has a well paid job and probably lives in a nice apartment/house. Be a real shame if someone smashed her windows because people in nice houses are exercising conspicuous consumption - but it would of course be wrong of me to say that.

Ms Stewarts comments are pretty low level and is something as a Society that we have to get used to as it will only get worse. Most of her generation think they have a valid voice through columns, twitter and facebook but have little idea of any privilege or responsibility with those channels.

She's entitled to her opinion, the same way we're entitled to ridicule it.
