Whoever specced my Leon back in 2006 decided not to tick any options apart from cruise control and, for some bizarre reason, privacy glass. Who options privacy glass in a 5-door hatch?!

My last boss had a 2003 Mercedes E270 which had full Airmatic air suspension (standard on E500 & AMG models), which was a very expensive option in the day.

Digital TV was an option on 2nd gen MINIs for a short time, but was seldom ticked

From memory there was an 8C paint option on regular Alfas, I think it was something like a £15k option on a car with an OTR price of not much more than that eek

Makes Azzurro Nuvola (pale blue pearlescent) on a 156 for £1650 look cheap!

Brought an E61 ex press car from BMW, was SE spec but had:

Sports Seats
Sports Wheel with paddles
Adaptive Suspension
Adaptive Steering
Panoramic Roof
Full fat sat nav
3 zone advanced climate with the extra remote heater
All the alu exterior trim removed and fitted with black trim
All the interior wood trim binned and Alu trim fitted

BMW had taken the SE and turned it into a fully loaded Sport model at far more than it would have cost to have brought a Sport model to begin with, hardly fair for road tests? wink

I think there still is an 8C paint option on new Alfa's.

On the topic of rare options on Alfa's my Mito has auto climate control, which I haven't seen in any other bar one on the stand at Goodwood.

It is the free option of Matt Aluminium window surrounds. Small detail I know.
Like the SE's have? I guess people prefer the 'shadowline' trim on an M sport? Tbf, I do!

This puts me in mind of a 90s documentary about wker sales reps I saw. They interviewed some prat who was going on about "when you see the red line on the bumper you know it's an SRi and get out of the way" or some such nonsense. In the 21st century there are instead people who know exactly what matt aluminium window surrounds on your BMW say about your position within the company and how many urinal cake orders your team secured last quarter hehe
A to B tales of modern motoring for anyone interested. I was hoping to find the whole episode, but you can cobble together the 9 minute clips. I loved it, especially disgruntled Maestro man. biggrin

I'm going to choose to believe that the guy is an actor being ironic. I can't quite face accepting that people like that really exist.

I love nerdy threads like this.

Remember wanting a Corsa purely because of the bike rack!

This is now my favorite thread haha. I always have a peek through an owners manual when I get a car to get a look at the odd options.

Also, the BMW Parts archive website (I used it for locating parts on my 330ci) was great for finding random options. IE, motorsport stickers for the car. Kinda like a chequered flag thing going up the side.

My colleagues 62 plate Focus came with it as standard. Makes the weather look terribly overcast when you're sat in the back...

I seem to have a rare but free option on my car. Since I took delivery I have not seen another 5 series "M Sport" on the road with them fitted (estate or saloon). Can you guess what it is?

passenger dwarf seat adjustment?
Working indicators?
Body colour that isn't silver or black?

Absolutely love watching this, it's a fantastic period piece. Here's the full version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQsMFQZa8os

Also strikes you how empty the roads where compared to now.

Lack of shadow line trim I'd assume. Delete option gives you the chrom surrounds which looks less m sport...
