Probably according to the folks who sell the cams and bolt ons?

Honda VTEC engines are different kettle of fish in engine tuning potential.

What limits most engines is the flow of the cylinder head. Most production engines limit the port cross sectional area in order to have a broad rpm range. If the port is too big, the engine loses torque at low engine speeds as the gas velocity is too slow to enable good scavenging and we will get high flow reversion which is counter productive.

With the VTEC system, there is no need to limit prot cross sectional area because the valve actuation system gives only the duration and lift required for a narrow rev range- I understand the K20 has 3 cam profiles and variable phasing. So, K20s have huge ports.

Can they make 90lbft/lt? I'd like to see an independant engine dyno plot.
