Tricky at £20k, doable at £30k and that's what I would recommend if the op had that much dosh
They were selling at less than £25k for a low mileage 2+2 in great condition, a couple of months ago, so it is possible.

Who was? There was an accident damaged one, are you thinking of that? I was offered £26k part exchange for my 60k mile car just last month.

There is one for sale that's been on the market for nearly 2 years, but it lacks the sport pack and as a result just doesn't seem to sell. Typical bottom end of the market is £30k for a 30k mile 2009/2010 car. Cars with all 3 packs see, to sell fastest.

Were they? I've only ever seen one for that sort of money and it was a 2+0; everything else is ~£30k or more.

If you want to commute in it, I wouldn't even recommend you to get a F430 even if you had the cash. Not a nice commuting car.

I don't think you will really do much better than an M3 for a balance between a sports car and a commuter car, well not if you didn't prefer the 996!

I've owned V8 M3, 996 Turbo, F430 Spider, F12 M6 Cabriolet and SL55 AMG. Funnily enough my picks would be in your budget: best daily driver, which is also a great fun sports car, V8 E92 M3. best sports car which can also be used as a daily driver - 996 Turbo (well maybe not a Turbo, but a 996 would be in budget).

So, based on what you've said, go for an E92 M3. Perfect.

They have fallen off the sold list on PH but yes they were early 2+2 with low miles shifting for less than £25k.

Another 'looker' if LHD isn't a problem.

Solstice GXP. It's turbo charged, so pretty quick stock, but very easy to tune. Looks a bit akin to a TVR in my opinion. But with mass market production and build quality.

No these had absolutely no damage. I am aware of the accident damage one, that was £20k or less wasn't it?

Curious. I've been on the lookout for them dropping under £25k for a year or so and haven't seen anyway.

If there is a way of finding sold cars on the PH classifieds that have fallen off the sold list then I will post links to them. There was an S at the same time that was sold for £34.5k.

I have been tracking the market almost daily for 12 months, both o PH and autotrader, plus the forums and don't recall any cars at £25k the only S I can think of that meets that price range is a left hooker. (My memory may be failing me I suppose)

There definitely were some good ones at that price a couple of months ago. I was following it closely too (still am!). They were pre facelifts (and RHD).

They aren't an Aston inside no. But for the money they are perfectly fine IMO. And the mass produced interior is partly what makes them such good and reliable daily drivers.

Certainly no worse than an S2k or Z4 or 996.

There are these..

Fair enough that's a fantastic looking car. That incredible shallowness of the wing over the front wheel always looks so dramatic, I wonder if the mouth breathing journos who always bellow their ill informed opinions on the "cart spring" suspension have any awareness of this benefit?

Also notice a distinct lack of "cart springs! ha ha!" commentary on the new XC90 that uses a transverse composite leaf spring.

E90 m3 v8 or m5 v10's engine in a z4m would be ideal I think
What about a Hartge Z3 coupe 5.0 V8?

Not cheap though.

I always look at "what car" threads and think "don't you know?", but actually when you are trolling the classifieds it's harder than it seems.

SWMBO is thinking of changing her 350Z and is proving hard to please. Ideally she wants something newer, at least as quick, rear drive and with an interior she likes. For up to 14k. Some compromise needed... She rejects most German cars for having boring interiors. Jags are "old man". She's not found anything entirely satisfactory. She could get an FN2 CTR, which would be quite new, has an interior she likes but is front drive and not that quick. GT86 is similar performance to the Civic and rear drive, but she's driven one and wasn't blown away. She is rather taken with the AMG SLK55, but it would be no newer than her Nissan and higher mileage. Also the Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa, but it has a whiff of money pit about it. Might be options for the OP, if perhaps too GT-ish. Also considering Americana - she loves the C7, but the older cars look dated. Mustang might be a possibility.

Not much help to the OP, other than that it's not as easy as it looks!

Yes not a bad shout

Or a tamora, try and get one with a Tvr power rebuild and reliability will not be an issue
Apart from electrics etc, IMO a bit risky if you need to rely on it for a daily commute, plus every time it visits a dealer it will be there for at least 2 days
Disagree, the more you use it the more reliable it will be. Wouldn't hesitate to use a TVR as a daily if it suited.
