Exige with a sports exhaust would be a good bet if you add a bit more to your budget. Same with a Z4M or TTRS, though. But the Exige will obviously be the most lively.

A Lotus would likely work out cheaper in depreciation than most things, and generally cheap to run, but you have to really like that kind of car.

The V10 M6, with a shouty exhaust, might be exactly what you're looking for. While it's a bit lardier than an S2000, that engine with 500bhp more than makes up for the extra weight. Plus, it's a bloody nice place to spend your time when you're not thrashing the pants off it. £20k would seem to buy a decent one too.

Yes not a bad shout

Or a tamora, try and get one with a Tvr power rebuild and reliability will not be an issue
Apart from electrics etc, IMO a bit risky if you need to rely on it for a daily commute, plus every time it visits a dealer it will be there for at least 2 days
Disagree, the more you use it the more reliable it will be. Wouldn't hesitate to use a TVR as a daily if it suited.
I often take my Cerbera to work. Love it biggrin

My cousin has just, well a few months ago now tbh, bought a BMW Z4M.

Love it, bags of character, awesome engine, lovely gearbox and well screwed together. Try one, I was surprised to say the least. Nice car.

You really should try and keep up with the thread. The op has already said:

I already have m3 race car and 550bhp m3.
So a 500hp M6 vs a 550hp M3 is only going to feel slower, heavier, less fun and less sporty.

Exige is fantastic but you'd have to be really committed to use it as a daily, and I think it also takes some of the shine off it using it on the daily grind.

A well set up Cayman s with a hartech engine rebuild and nice sports exhaust would be my choice under £20k, but I'd definitely look at a Z4m coupe as well.

As I did with my Tuscan, the fact is though that to be relied on as an every day commute they don't work, you still need access to another car, because they do go wrong but more importantly service intervals are close together and your typical TVR specialist will need the car for a couple of days

I don't think you should go for a replica, the NSX is a good shout and I didn't realise they were in budget. So either NSX or 'Vette would be my shortlist, time to get the test drives booked!

been a while since i looked at nsx, and no they are not in budget! miles out!

Dont think a clubsport stripped 996 911 c2s will offer much of a difference experiance to an m3 to be worth the effort/money?

I truly don't get the fascination with rpm numbers. If the tacho had no numbers on it, you'd never know the number anyhow. You'd just get noise and feel the profile of the power curve.

LS engines certainly aren't lazy stock IMO. And as you seem happy modding, then a simple cam swap will make them change their character.

e.g. if this had no numbers or different numbers on the dial, would you really be able to tell?

Go back to your original list i recon. They were sports cars and will give you a sports car experience.

Now it's just chasing BHP numbers, if that's what you really want buy a GTR and the world's your oyster.

that certainly does shift and makes a nice noise!

Personal preference i suppose. I didnt get on with the AMG's cos wanted to rev it out more! Might change with some decent exposure i suppose.

Does a V10 M6 need a shoutier exhaust...?

We'll agree to disagree I think re reliability, service intervals are costly yes. As for time at the dealer, don't think this would be an issue. Get it booked for a Saturday morning and make it clear you want it back at the end of the day, all will be well. Straight six used to look after my tuscan and it was entirely painless.
