RE: Brit Mustang buyers favour V8s...
Discussion
Looking forward to seeing these, a real shame the GT350 is not coming over that car looks to be something quite special. I think these will do well IMO i want one !! and..... it's absolutely no comparison to a 370z or Monaro. The mustang is a US of A and global icon, available in RHD for the first time and Ford look to have really nailed what a modern mustang is all about with this current iteration.

If my personal experience of Ford owners clubs is anything to go by, that 5bhp will matter. A lot. I mean, who can they show their print outs to with only 416bhp.
Given that Mustang owners club members previously launched a class action lawsuit against Ford over a missing 15bhp, I'd say you're right http://www.themustangnews.com/content/2014/09/car-...
With regards to the 5bhp loss... Do they take into account our far superior fuel quality???
Fill her up with 99 octane (103 in some special garages!) And im sure you'll be close to making that 5bhp back???
I had the same issue with my volvo 240. When i put a turbo conversion on it the damn steering collum was in the way! Not an issue on LHD 240 turbos! So i went to my local exhaust guy who sorted everything out!
There will be aftermarket tuners able to make better manifolds for the RHD 'stang, if -5bhp is the end of the world of course...

This car has grown a lot on me over the past few months, though much like 300' I share the reservations about future parts availability if it doesn't take off big time in the UK; given the current uptake I think it will so it shouldn't be a problem but if it ends up as another failed attempt at bringing a car here you will be paying far more for parts than the owners on the other side of the pond.
The first thing I'd do if I bought one (new or used) is swap those ghastly Euro clear rear light lenses for some US spec red lenses.
It is going to be interesting to see what dealer servicing prices are like on these as well compared to other models in the range.
Rough guide
US 87 = 91 UK
US 91 = 95 UK
US 93 = 97/98 UK
You will pick up a few HP with a re-map for super (I did) so it is not all lost but then you are going to be stuck with Super Unleaded only.
Edit: beaten to it

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but we do not have superior quality fuel - its a myth. They just have a different grading system to us (they use MON whereas we use RON).Rough guide

Different measurements. Ours is measured in RON, which give higher numbers than the AKI (anti-knock index, the average between RON and MON) that is used in Europe and the USA.Fill her up with 99 octane (103 in some special garages!) And im sure you'll be close to making that 5bhp back???
Their 93 is roughly equivalent to our 99

Really horror stories about the RS6 C5? That's based on fact and FSH is it? Did you speak to any actual owners, or people who never even sat in one? In any case I ran a 2005 RS6 Avant, paid the service bills and had no problems in 20,000 miles. It's a complex but well engineered machine. The problem with all RS6's is that despite accelerating like Saturn V on wheels, mega looks and soundtrack, they are soulless and offer little driver involvement. If that doesn't bother you then you'll doubtless be pleased. Just don't miss out the fairly frequent £6000 cam belt changes, or you will be relaying unjustified 'horror stories' yourself......
What's with the uncalled for aggression in your comment? Yes I have spoken to a good half dozen C5 RS6 owners that I know thanks to being in classic audi circles for the past ten years whilst I owned a UR quattro and when I mentioned getting an RS6 they said to avoid the C5 as it'll be even more trouble than your UR (which was lots of trouble!).Seriously, untwist yer knickers and chill, you don't like my car choice, that's fine. many won't but I do with a young family and a mtb habit the car ticks all the right boxes to allow me to go from three cars to one (probably two).

I dare say that is rather pathetic on your part. Have you ever tried picking up the phone or making your way to one of the dealers?
Thanks for the patronising comment, really is nice to read on a tuesday morning. Yes I've been to the eastleigh Ford four times in actual person, face to face real life and everything. Each time I may as well not have bothered as Ford UK hadn't given them any info aside from the brochure. So, red, manual, coupe is the default?
Glad mine is a V8, orange, auto coupe, then.
I had a nice letter from Ford about this. Well done them. Don't give a toss about 5 bhp.
Got mine at the original price too - there has been an increase since announcement. Really looking forward to getting it. That makes 4 V8's in the collection. Need to shift the 911 and one more though to make some room.

To be fair that's the same for most of us that have ordered one. When I ordered back in Feb the dealer had a crappy brochure, and a photocopied order sheet.... I like many others placed my deposit based on that, and a few YouTube videos.
I still haven't even seen one in the flesh, not even a LHD one, and the only info I've had from ford is 3 emails..and 1 letter
1. Confirmation of Order
2. Production is about to start
3. Letter explaining manifold mod
Letter inviting me to a viewing at Birmingham, but I didn't go...
That's it....I've still no idea when I'll get my car, and no idea what it's like to drive....
Some may say that it's foolish to order a car that you've never even seen let alone driven, but hey, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and take a punt......or do nothing....that's the choice

Well they sort of do. Their lowest octane quality pump petrol I've seen in the US is 85 which is almost certainly rather below anything you can get in the UK. I've no idea if the Mustang will actually run on 85 but it'll almost certainly run on 87 which is still likely to be significantly below our standard 95RON fuel. That's fair enough Quinny, absolutely nothing wrong with ordering without seeing one in the flesh, especially given the good reviews it gets everywhere, but unfortunately there's a little something in my brain that wouldn't let me commit to £35k without at least sitting in one and being able to poke around, so I did the do nothing option . It's all horses for courses. When I ordered back in Feb the dealer had a crappy brochure, and a photocopied order sheet.... You won't be disappointed, it does look good in the metal.

I know you can get some seriously 'bad' stuff over there. I know the minimum a stock engine in my 2006 GT will run on is US 87. I think the newer engines 5.0 (an owner of one can correct me if I am wrong) were premium fuel which is US 91/UK 95.If I hadn't have re-mapped my car I'd only be running it on 95 as its far more than the engine needs.

I think it's called BP Ultimate 102 (and it's 102 not 103); I am not sure if they still do it, but the BP near Santa Pod used to sell it.
Believe is was for the Street Legal Dragsters.

I think they dropped it, the uptake was unsurprisingly slow given (iirc) that it was twice the price per litre than ordinary super and you'd only see gains (over regular super) if the engine was tuned to use it.Believe is was for the Street Legal Dragsters.
(EFA)
I think you are right about the placement though - the locations I am not sure of but I think it was put in filling stations near to track(s) to capture the enthusiast/motorsport market.
