It’s a question that has continued to baffle academics, stirred the soul of man since the primal spluttering of that first internal combustion engine and (inevitably) fuelled many a forum thread … which car is fastest off the line?

Here is YOUR chance to help us find out, as we put the call out for a small number of very special supercars to complete our ultimate line up and discover who is the real ‘king of the strip’. PistonHeads is working with our colleagues at Autocar and our PHTV film crew for what can only be described a drag race extravaganza to be filmed and streamed across both publications.

Yes, we want as many supercars as possible to take part and go 0-60 and beyond!

The event will take place over the course of two days on the 2nd and 3rd of September at Alconbury airfield, where we will be will be filming each individual shootout along the main runway of the former US airbase.

You might have the car that we need to complete our ultimate line up, and have the opportunity to show an audience of thousands just how good you are behind the wheel of your pride and joy.

The shortlist of cars we’re after includes:

Ferrari F12
Ferrari La Ferrari
Ferrari F40
Ferrari F50
Lamborghini Aventador
Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
Lamborghini Huracan
Lamborghini Murcielago (any variety)
Porsche 911 Turbo S (991)
Lexus LFA

This isn’t an exhaustive list and if you have a car you think should be there by all means make your case!

If you are the proud owner of one of these fabulous supercars and you would like to take part them please send and email to info@pistonheads.com with your name, car registration, the name of the registered keeper, your availability whether for one or both days … and the total loss value of the car for insurance purposes. Please note that although we will fully cover each vehicle on our company insurance, we cannot cover the cost of tyres, or wear and tear occurred on the day. You’ll be driving so it’s up to you how hard you want to go!

Many thanks

Ollie

Also wonder what the field would look like with a top end 7 in there, as well as an Atom V8 or 300.

I think it'd be more interesting to end up with a list of figures, not just identify which the top ones are

That I'm about 20 mins from Alconbury and have just finished sorting my supercharged MX5 has no bearing at all on this suggestion

Would cars like Andy Forrests ballistic impreza be welcomed to an event like this?

I'd love to see a car that someone built up against some proper supercars!

I would like to see ecain63's AMG45 attend, if he is feeling up for it. It's a reasonably standard setup on the AMG but can hit 0-60mph in 3.3 secs !!

If this is really "Piston"Heads and not just a supercar site, then how about inviting stevieturbo?
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?h=0...

Of all the cars on PH, his certainly deserves to part of this.

There seem to be a tad too many Ferraris and lamborghinis in that list for a PH thread
and too much emphasis on drag racing.
redcard

How about some normal PH cars doing things PH is good at smile
