......what long term durability will be like who knows....
But let's face it - who keeps a car long enough to find out or care!Personally I've never managed to 'wear out' an interior
Two of my favourite old cars had ropey interiors but it didn't bother me in the slightest.
(205Gti & S2 Elise in case you were wondering)

But heavier than older Mustangs....
Something to do with IRS possibly?2005 S197 Mustang GT V8 | 1596kg |
2005 S197 Mustang V6 | 1520kg |
2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt V8 | 1485kg |
2002 Camaro z28 | 1547kg |
99-04 Mustang Cobra's had IRS, 6 speed manual only (no auto option) and a 32v DOHC
V8.
1999 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT | 1556kg |
The new Z06 has put on a couple of hundred kg's too, up from 1400kg to 1598kg
The outgoing model had been putting on the pounds every year as luxurys originally stripped off the car were gradually added back on (1440kg)
Guessing that's the price you pay for all the electronic gizmos people expect these days

My reasoning on this was:
-It is probably one of the greatest V8 engines ever created (engine of the year in its category 5 years in a row iirc). It has a complete Jekyll and Hyde character that had me grinning like an idiot.
-All other M3s are NA/FI straight 6s, making it somewhat unique
-The noise, dear god the noise!
I don't doubt that's true, but it's still a mass produced car nowhere near the bottom of its depreciation curve. -It is probably one of the greatest V8 engines ever created (engine of the year in its category 5 years in a row iirc). I'm another one with a Mustang V8 on order. I said that I would never buy a new car again plus no car has floated my boat since my Boxster bought and sold back in 2005.
I bought an old Mercury Grand Marquis last year and loved it despite the 80s Ford Sierra interior and managed to get my average mpg down to 12 because I just got off on that lazy V8 surge that managed to move 2 tons of car quite briskly.
Thus when the price of the Mustang was announced I stuck down a deposit.
Most modern cars around the same price look boring to me and I have driven a M3 V8. Great fun but as said before it just looked like all the other 3 series and I thought the interior was pretty bland even compared to my old 1998 e36, which I still own and love.

These tyre inclusive plans sound great as long as they don't complain if you run through a set of rears in 8k miles!
The 370Z is cheap for a reason - nobody rates it!
Nobody rates it ?The 370Z is cheap for a reason - nobody rates it!
Every review I have read seems to be overwhelmingly positive ?
It is a bit old school, hard riding and not very sophisticated but its a good looking, focused, RWD coupe, I am sure more people would buy one if they could cope with two seats, £500 VED and 20 mpg.

Autocar says 'Mixed bag', effectively. Maybe I was a bit harsh.Every review I have read seems to be overwhelmingly positive ?

It's sad that people care so much about VED, but I agree that it puts people off.

No unexpected repair bills that could potentially be very expensive to account for.
I think this is a reasonable reason to buy new rather than all the 2nd hand options you could have for the same money. No unexpected repair bills that could potentially be very expensive to account for.
Many would take the Mustang over the M3 for the same reason most would take the M3 over the V8 Vantage mentioned. Without having any specific experience, it'd be my guess that an M3 would cost considerably more in maintenance over say 3 years than the Mustang. You could be lucky and not have any issues but then you still have MOTs etc and arguably the same depreciation.
But as said already, I'm sure for a lot of buyers, the very fact it is a Mustang is reason enough to buy it over anything else.
