Cross is an idiot. It will not "raise the standard". The standard is already insanely high if you want "sporting" dynamics (Macan, Cayenne) or comfort (Range Rover). It will be a middle of the road offering like the BMWs in this segment - fast in some versions, but still pretty much pointless.

You must be saying that only because you are an expert in vehicle dynamics and get all of your daily driving practice driving your Porsche on the high speed London roads.

Raising the standard means providing sporty handling with comfort, Jaguar's track record in this regard is very, very good.

Regarding your commenta about pointlessness - I live in a snowy region of the USA with a 6 month winter. SUV sales are huge here, but I think the opportunity to Jaguar is that while lots of people like the practicality and roominess an SUV provides, they would like a more supple ride and better handling, yet still be able to deal with snow. A road oriented SUV really works in this regard.

How did my comment hurt your feelings so much that you have made a personal attack? Bizarre.

It wont have a more supple ride if it aims to out-handle the Porsche offerings - it will be set up for 'Ring times and very harsh. But that wont happen because Cross is just talking nonesense. As I said, it will be like the BMWs in this segment - neither really one thing nor the other, which is probably perfect for your climate and usage (and pointless in Britain).

Cross says this every time. No car he has released has "raised the standard for dynamics" in its class.

You were the one being offensive by labeling a man as an idiot. I own two products that he signed off and I think that they do their job of transporting me comfortably with a nice sporty feeling very well.
The car is not pointless either. The SUV segment has grown because people in general like them.
If you don't like the product on looks or name then vote with your wallet, rejecting it on the basis of something you've not experienced and have no experience in seems to be close minded.
