More money than sense investing in a new TVR at this point. It's as pie in the sky as these crazy Mexican/Norwegian/Cambodian car companies that proclaim a new supercar at every major car show. They get the money, then either never deliver anything or deliver an abomination.

I can't see this being anything different, tbh.

TVR had better have something utterly mind-blowing lined up to make sure these deposits stick! There must be some serious die-hard fans out there.
I'm not even a TVR fan and I've 'registered my interest'. Bit of an adventure isn't it? I'd probably put down a deposit if I thought I could get away with it at home. So, softly softly...

Previously their best names have been slight tweaks to mythical creatures.

Bird:

Griffin - Griffith

Canine:

Cerberus - Cerbera

Feline:

Chimera - Chimaera
(Griffin is half lion, so sort of in here too)

So why not go equine (and quite apt at this point) and call it a TVR Unicorn hehe? Or perhaps...

Centaur - Centaura maybe?

EDIT:

Looking into it a bit more,

wiki said:
the Chimera was one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of such monsters as Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra.
So a Hydra? Won't go down well if it leaks... hehe

The names do work well for TVRs to be honest...

wiki said:
According to Hesiod, Typhon was "terrible, outrageous and lawless", and on his shoulders were one hundred snake heads, that emitted fire and every kind of noise

I really bloody hope it all happens.

Be so, so lovely to see another British brand selling a hilariously outlandish product.

Unlike most British car stories this one seems to have the correct names in the cirrect places.
Gordon Murray, iStream (very clever both of them), Cosworth, TVR and someone who seems to know how to run a business rather than liking to tinker in his shed and then starts to make cars.

I really hope it goes well for TVR.

Just need Aston to drop AMG and get on with becoming a proper car company not a coach builder.

"a heart-warming situation".

No sh*t! If someone gave me thousands of pounds for nothing, I would be pleased about it, too.

Anyone who has punted up a deposit care to answer some questions about it?

To what legal entity did you pay the money?

What do you know about the creditworthiness of that entity?

On what terms is your deposit to be returned?

How much do you know about the amount of capital required to bring the car to market and how much of that capital has already been raised?

Where would you fall in the list of unsecured creditors?

Under what conditions is the company permitted to pay out dividends or other payments to directors prior to launch?

I would wait until about 2019 before checking Daily Mail headlines for "I was promised a TVR and got nothing while Mr X lives it up in Barbados on my deposit".

Have they said how much of an update you'll get on the car as it progresses in development?

not really actually. This is what I got...

Dear TVR fan,

Well done, you did it - You are Captain of your Soul!
Congratulations on placing your deposit for one of the new 2017 TVR cars – the most anticipated new sports car to be produced in many years!

Thank you for placing your faith in us and our partners - like us, you are happy to stand up and be counted. The next chapter of TVR's 68-year history is being written now - we're delighted to have you on board!

We'll be back in touch with more details about your order and also to give you a heads-up on how we're progressing with car stuff soon.

Thanks very much for your support.

Les Edgar

To what legal entity did you pay the money? -

- TVR Manufacturing Limited incorporated in England and Wales with registration number 08486573 whose registered
office is at Wentworth House, 4400 Parkway, Whiteley, Hampshire, PO15 7FJ -

What do you know about the creditworthiness of that entity?
Less than zero

On what terms is your deposit to be returned?
not sure

How much do you know about the amount of capital required to bring the car to market and how much of that capital has already been raised?
no idea

Where would you fall in the list of unsecured creditors?
no idea

no idea

some might, not me. I tend to go with my instincts and Les Edgar, Gordon Murray and Cosworth are serious entities in my book and I am also demented for TVR's. Call it a leap of faith

You say that but I didn't have grey hair when I first heard of I stream and to my knowledge I'm yet to see a car so that doesn't bode well for TVR producing anything quickly.
