I work in London and commute by bike most days - I have never heard of it.

Anyone fancy tennis on a cycle lane today? BTW I hear they're building a really safe, long super tennis court across London.

Critical Mass. A mixture of soap-dodging anarchists who latch onto any opportunity to be a , trustafarians, and idiots. They've held me up when I've been trying to get home on my, err, road bike. Do they give a st? No.

They are not "cyclists". They are aholes who happen to own bikes. I wouldn't judge all cyclists by their actions any more than I'd judge all motorcyclists by the behaviour of tts who ride around on stolen mopeds.

Trust me, most regular cycle commuters hate critical mass events too. I'm not going to apologise on their behalf but they try to make a point about road use, infrastructure etc, albeit very badly and to the frustration of other road users.

Problem is they made you angry and now it's other cyclists who will suffer. Don't stop giving all cyclists space etc.

In short, they are a minority, don't take out your frustration on the next cyclists you see just because this lot annoyed you.

It's the same as using the chavs who circulate empty industrial estates at night doing burn outs in corsas to represent performance car enthusiasts, clearly they don't but a passer by who sees it could easily lump most "pistonheaders" with GTRs etc in with them.

Not wanting to start an argument but does this assumption apply to dash cams too?

I saw the opening rant last night and thought the OP was having a one off and the post would be deleted.

They seem to have acheived their aim?

Don't treat all cyclists the same as a result of this, 2000 dirty hippies on fixies are a world away from Mr Jones commuting to work on his old bike.

Not that this will stop the predictable avalanche of PH cyclists slagging you off, plus heebeegeetee calling you a tt because you're not a cyclist and he used to drive a lorry.

Seems like it's an excuse to get pissed and ride around London pissing everyone off.

Build a "project bike" like so:

Just for the days they are running that event, dress accordingly and you should get a wide berth.

Surely a quick flick of your wrist and he's gone? "Sorry officer, I didn't know he was holding onto my bike, isn't that illegal sir?"

There lies the problem as it only takes one falling down type character to react, somebody whose had a day from hell and feels like there is nothing left to lose. Once you have set out to anger/annoy/antagonise another person you really can't complain about the consequences.

OP, sounds like you were previously doing the right thing by cyclists, don't let this shower put you off.
Critical Mass sounds like something that started out as a good idea but got hijacked or waylaid by the "typical protester" type - not there for the cause, just to get pissed and cause trouble.

I'm a cyclist and I identify with this lot about as much as I identify with the Kardashians.

You really are a bit resistant to clue, aren't you?

There was clearly a protest going on. Why not just go somewhere else instead? In an urban location there's normally more than one route.
^ THIS. With bloody bells on.
