That's not what the MPSS is for though - it's a bonafide high performance summer tyre.
Indeed, I'm amazed at the amount of people on forums that say I'll be fine in the winter on my soft sticky MPSS....as they won't be soft at 2c!

I can't afford two sets of wheels and tyres - buying a house and change of job have put paid to that - so what does the collective mind think is the best option?

As I see it, there are 3 choices;

- Buy a good direct replacement set of tyres and, on the basis that the last 12 years have driving have been alright without winters - hope for the best.

- Buy all seasons and compromise

- Buy cheap winters and replace them in spring.
Cheap winters + steelies. Buy new summers in spring. All you're in for is the price of the steelies as having two sets of tyres will mean that both wear out half as quickly.

Shame a bout the PSS's I did 63k miles on them in an M135i.
Just chopped it from and M140i and it has S001 Run flats frown
The * (BMW) sizes will carry on in Supersport. Why did you specify RFT on the M140i ? The default tyre is still the SS.
I didn't wink
It was a pre reg
When they need changing Michelins will go on
The ride on the run flats is a lot harder as well frown

I'm not a fan of MPSS on my 135i.

So for me it's CSC5 vs PS4 when I saw. Tyre wear not important

Actually, it's the CPC6 vs the PS4 now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6PozLdHPVE

The CPC6 is a very good tyre, a nice step on from both the CPC5 and the CSC5. It remains to be seen how it will fair head to head with the MPS4, I can't wait to read (or do) a test!

Loved the review you did in the M3

Interesting re this and look forward to hopefully further testing ...

Just read Continental'a website, they won't be doing 35 profile, so looks like PS4 next time

They'll still make the CSC5 in the sizes the CPC6 don't cover, but if it comes down to CSC5 vs PS4, there's not much competition for Michelin!

Are there any updates yet on when the 4s will be rolled out? Only website that sells them now is blackcircles but they are pretty expensive.

Also looking for suggestions on a Mk7 Golf R with around 400hp?? Currently on CSC5 from factory and lasted 10k. The CSC6 has great reviews apart from wear, users averaging 7500 ish it seems.

Should I go for the 4s? Or is there a better tyre for my car?

The 4S is available to buy in the launch sizes, my tyres seems to be the cheapest, but they're not cheap

I'll know for sure next week as I'll be testing the CSC6 vs the PS4S, but my gut tells me the 4S will be the one to go for, especially as I prefered the PSS to the CSC6 (even if the CSC6 had a little more grip)

Those PS4S will going on the M3 after I take the winters off, although I've been impressed with the CSC5P that came with it after 24k there is still 4mm left all round so continentals wear rate isn't as bad as advertised.

Rears lasted less than 10k for me, though fronts did last 20k. MPSS are only half worn @10k on the rear though.

The Michelins will be better, I got 31k out of a set of MPSS on my old F10 M5, but the contis aren't that bad unless you drive like you're a get away driver.

I drive more aggressively now than when I first got the car, and also have more power, tbh as I know how it handles hehe

Also, the contis road noise is horrendous on the concrete sections of the M25. Not just my car this time, as SWMBO's Adam S have CSC5P's and also have a horrendous resonance just like mine did before changing the MPSS. Hope to get hers on MPS4S soon though.

PS4S

PS4S won't fit my car frown

You'll never see the PS4 and PS4S in the same test sadly, there's so few size overlaps no one will do it.

I'll be starting a PSS vs PS4S (vs CSC6) next week hopefully!

PS4 are brilliant on the 130i, imagine they'd be equally good on yours Mike.
Did you get the LCA's fitted, if so any noticeable difference?

Yup running PS4s, 225s front 235s rear on a pre-facelift 130i at 35psi, would recommend this to anyone Mike, it drives like a go kart especially with the slightly wider bias to the front over stock. Would imagine will be same in a 135 for sure.

After about 42k miles - rotated at 25k - my PSS are down to 2.5mm. PS4S will be replacing them in the next couple of months.

If they last as well and provide a little bit extra grip, I'll be thoroughly impressed!
