Anyone got a link to a proper mag tyre test where these are back-to-backed against stuff like the Conti 5SC, GY G1s, new Yokos, Pirelli PZero etc?
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/monsters-o...

2012 so a bit dated however I think the majority of the tyres tested are still available.
Cheers for the link

Anyone know what European market version the Conti Extreme Contact DW relate to?

The Yokos look a good bet for dry use too

Getting the tyres fitted as I type this out. What pressure do you think for all four tyres?

My run craps ran on 37PSI according to the manual. I'm thinking 35psi?

Sounds like it's too late just to inform OP about to make choices - the Continental Sport Contact 6 is now officially launched.
Tyres due into the UK in certain sizes 19 inch upwards in mid-October according the Conti UK.

I've been trying to decide between the Conti SC6 and Michelin PSS and figure the Conti might be better for road usage/wet conditions.

Porsche owners might be interested to know that SportContact 6 will be N0 rated by Porsche for various older cars (997, 987). A bloke who works at Continental said so after Nürburgring WEC. The cars from the launch event make me think he's right. The press release also says "approval expected from notable vehicle manufacturers; The new super sports tire is particularly suited to pure sports cars such as the Audi R8 or Porsche 911".

If true these will likely be the UHP tyres to get if you need the N-rating for warranty.
If the SC 5P is almost as good as the MPSS in the dry, surely the SC6 will be a lot better than the 10 year old PS2.

That is interesting if true. I run MPSS on my car but then I have no problems with my garage as they over look the wheels and tyres when renewing the warrenty or carrying out any work.

I hope one of the mags gets the MPSS tested against the current top tyres soon - it would be interesting to see where they all excel

...as tested on a lardy, high powered, big-wheeled BMW M4.
How does that translate to OP's 328? hehe

Unless he tests them all himself we'll never know !

Personally though, I, like Jon- , quite like reading them and have a bit more faith in data like that than someone comparing a new set of MPSS to a worn out set of GY F1s from 2 years back

It's quite an expenditure to buy a brand new set of tyres so I like to try and read up a bit before I spend £500 plus

Has anyone been running the SportContact 6 for any period of time to form an opinion?

I'm looking to take off the winters shortly and trying to decide between them and the Michelin PSS.

Cheers

How long can you wait? I've a set of Super Sports and a set of Sport Contact 6's on their way to me, it will be at least few weeks before I've driven on them both enough to form an initial impression.

I'm very excited to do the comparison, I feel they'll be closer than everyone imagines.

Most of the feedback I have heard/read about the Contis is that they wear a lot quicker than the PSS. Supposed to be a decent improvement on the conti 5s though.

PSS are the ultimate for performance and longevity.

I got 27000 miles out my front tires on the M5 for gods sake!

And 18k miles out of the rears, including a trackday!

It's replacing the PS3, not the Super Sport.
