I got the information from Michelin (right before they said they weren't available in my size!)

PS4 is the uprated Pilot Sport. PS4S is the uprated MPSS. Just daft choice of naming.

In terms of product placement, yes, but in terms of technology the two tyres are WAY closer than the PS3<>PSS ever were.
