Decent but I expect the Golf GTI Clubsport to be announced at the IAA. That could be quite something if they get it right. The closest thing to a "hothatch GT3" I can think of.
Close because it's made by vag ? Or close because of the price near to the cost of an actual gt3, have you seen the r26r and trophy r bit of a strange statement tbh
Close because it is being developed by the very person who was responsible for the chassis setup of the 997 GT2, 997.2 GT2 RS and GT3 RS - Karsten Schebsdat. Feel free to look him up.

Why so defensive? Oh. Megane owner. Got it. hehe

I own a liquid yellow 275 trophy and adore it. The optional extras are needed though. A standard with no extras will be a very blah car in comparison, the options are what really make this Renault a renaultsport (ohlins, the akro and the cup bits on the nav)

They had one of these at Goodwood fos and I had a poke about. The only options not found in these, afaik, is the optional 19 speedline turinis from the trophy and the half leather/half alcantra recaros, although the people working there didn't seem to know much about the cars there so that could be wrong (not even how to find the numbers for their trophy) anyway I have a few snaps myself and the red is an amazing colour when it will be a popular choice, no question an out it.

The RS cars are special in a way no VW is. And I believe Karsten did the standard GTI as well so he is no one man genius.

I will be very surprised if the VW gets close to an Ohlins equipped Megane as a driving tool.

Added to the fact I can't remember VW ever making a best in class driving car and I think their chances are pretty slim.

You're under the illusion that the RS Megane has in some way to apologise for itself?

When was the last time you saw in automotive circles such a serial accolade winner?

The RS Megane is firmly established, and with every generation to date, as one of the greatest achievements in modern motoring.

Didn't they slash the prices of the RS Megane about 5 months back because they were trying to clear out old stock parts bins specific to the RS? Seem to remember they were getting mental discounts on broadspeed as I had a mate who missed out on the give away by 1 day. This is clearly nothing more than a stock clear out but it doesn't stop it from being a fantastic car and a great price. I rather fancy one but I have to say if i was looking to spend i'd be more inclined to wait for the new one with my fingers crossed that they didn't ruin it like they've done with the Clio.

If they do ruin it then i'd be picking a used current model up even cheaper.

I'd be inclined to wait too, but the you're probably looking at 2017 deliver for the next gen RS Coupe.

There's spy pictures floating around of the 2016 Megane. I'm disappointed. It looks like a chubbier Clio
If the Clio mated with a Porsche cayenne and the child inherited the Porsche' size and the Clio's looks that would be the Megane.

The spy pics are of the hatchback, so it has five doors and a practical boot. Very similar to the Clio as they have the same number of doors. The current 5 door Megane is not a looker either, something to keep in mind. And there WILL be a coupe and convertible Megane so that's one thing less to worry about. I also think Renault won't make the same mistake again and abandon the manual box for the RS version.

The interior should carry over into the coupe though, identical to the Talisman;

I'm waiting to see the new model and for the focus rs, I've looked at the civic and don't really like it but still will have a test drive at some point so until they have all appeared I'm not inclined to replace my 250 if the new meg hasn't got a manual box I won't even be test driving it

Each to their own. Have you driven both cars ? One is a nicer place to be. The other is a far better drivers' car.

I can't really see anything that'd make it worth it for current owners to swap for one. Though they're a great car, yes French and if you buy one expecting Audi interior quality you will be disappointed however they're much better than previous generations and have actually improved over the life of the current generation.

In my circle of friends we have a 250,265 and a 275 and each has minor revisions and improvements in materials used.

Will say though the Ohlins are disappointing material wise, they tarnish quite quickly so need some protection if you get them. Not really what you'd expect from Ohlins.

Another plus side is if you find you want to spice one up a bit too a remap makes them come alive. They're also quite fun with the esp off, people who claim FWD isn't fun have never driven a Megane with the traction off smile

PH article says - "So the Ohlins Road & Track dampers, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s and Akrapovic exhaust can be added. In fact, doing a little spec sheet maths reveals a Cup-S can be had with all of the above (don't forget the dampers require the 19-inch wheels) for £30,435

Why can't you have the 18" wheels?

You're probably judging others by your own standards.
