I wouldn't worry about rust.
The body and all panels are aluminium apart from the boot lid and the front wings which are plastic.
The main corrosion point is where the c pillar meets the rear quarter usually.

Wipe back the aluminium corrosion, a little etch primer and on the paint goes. No big deal compared to the pre facelift W220 saloon which can rust very badly.

ABC and electronic issues are the real enemy as long as you stay away from one with a V12 under the bonnet.
Sorry, for clarity, are you saying the V12 models are more or less "dangerous"? The ABC is what I meant by suspension problems, I couldn't recall the specific nature of them.

Be a long time 'til they're in thread budget, but I wonder how soon decent C216 CLs will be under £10k...?
More dangerous than the others - they have a habit for coilpacks I believe.
Indeed, dangerous.
Pre facelift V12s have multiple issues besides the infamous coil packs.
They can produce mega eye watering bills for labour for small parts.
And, they're not much more powerful than the bullet proof 500 V8.

Twin turbo V12s are more reliable and worth paying extra to run.

The 600 have a couple of V12 specific faults that can be quite pricey. Totally worth the risk/expense for a V12TT but the non turbo 600s are something to actively avoid IMO.

ABC costs are something to bare in mind, but are reasonable enough. It seems in most cases a catastrophic failure needs not cost more than a grand. My car is hopefully a long termer so I've opted to replace all 4 suspension accumulators and give the fluid a flush + New Filter. Parts and Fluids alone are approaching £700, but on a high mileage car with no explicit history of recent replacement its far from a bad idea. A full fluid flush is required at the minimum 30,000 miles or so and seems to be something that is often neglected leading to faults.

The system is totally worth it and makes the car ride superbly with zero body roll.

Why are all the reasonably priced X350 8's a million miles away from me?

£2995, 120k on it but think I'd have this over the low mile Brummie 3.0

Only a few miles from me, and I'd spotted it on my daily local gumtree search. It went through the local auction from a Google (lot of Glasgow main dealer pxs go there)
Close to me too, think I've driven past that garage but never really paid it any notice. Looks like it's on Abercorn St?

There can't be that much in the way of really expensive bills on the regular X350's can there?

Air suspension struts are £380 each for refurbed units, compressor repair kit is £25, gearbox oil change is £300ish, or a full rebuild if required is £1500ish but that's very rare. The petrol engines, particularly the 3.0 V6 are exceptionally reliable.

The main running costs are just general old car stuff really - obviously at MOT time if you have to replace bushes, brakes, tyres etc it can all add up, but it can with any car.

Some people do out of convenience, but they don't have to be as their exact height is controlled electronically.

This one is also close; but it's maybe at that awkward mileage where it's going to have more things wearing out that have probably already been done on a 120k+ car

Are we allowed a little chuckle at "Dark walnut butt interior" ?

Were it a diseasel it'd need cam chains at 105k or 10yrs, but it's not.

I can't believe the price some of these are going for. Sooo much car for the money.

Gorgeous. The fan speed control also houses the clock, how brilliant is that?

All fixed last year, bar the shock.

That's massively reassuring in my eyes. If there's paperwork, all the better. It's a good price nonetheless.

I'm really liking this style of XJR these days:

This one is within haggling distance of thread budget. Is that the going rate these days?

These have a strange appeal to me http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C705997

My love for these has been declared in the past, but it's worth holding out for a good S90, the Luxury Edition with the B6309 204 BHP motor is superb and has an even better stereo than the one he harps on about, plus Leather and Alcantara upholstery and special wheels which only came on that model. I loved mine and cried when I broke it.

That one looks pretty minty, so I'd say not unreasonable. A far more used-looking example is 2-3 bags these days it seems.

Lovely.
