Short ad which nevertheless somehow manages to inspire confidence. But by Christ, that car in that colour's a horrible look.
Agreed, but 6k to buy it , 6k for a years petrol and 6k the first time it borks, it manages to pull off the 80s look better than a RR of the same vintage though

Nice looking V90 Luxury Edition up for Auction at H&H Donington on the 24th soon

Lovely colour and back on the original wheels could do double that mileage with little fuss

I just don't get it. If there is a car that is less suited to shouty wheels, please show it to me. Plus the whole point about fettling a Volvo is you do it under the bonnet and leave it bone stock outside to maximise the sleeper effect.

Is it just me, or is the estimate on that toppy too? As noted, one with 50% more miles is hardly going to be less reliable.

I've managed to slip around the 'Darkside of the Moon' and whilst Houston was temporarily incommunicado, for a brief few hours, mysteriously found that another asteroid had been sucked into my orbit and has now landed on my surface today.

Inexplicably (and very suddenly), I now find myself staring up from the foot of yet another huge mountain-peak to climb!

What is wrong with me?

Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party. Cracking looking motor there clap

I'd be interested to see your 'bork list'. I must say I'm quite partial to a nice E34, having owned three of the things m'self.

Is yours an SLS-quipped car? I can't recall if this was standard on the higher end models. If it is duly equipped then you've bagged a motor without the 'stting dog' aesthetic that seems to affect a lot of E34s, mine included.

Top bombing thumbup
In terms of the bork list I'm crapping it a bit now to be honest. It's a totally unknown quantity until we put a battery in it and see what happens.

I've been sitting here all day today searching for and buying or just making notes of various items that it's likely to need or that were already obviously required. The list is already nearly £1000 and that's with a lot of hard searching to get the best deals on stuff. As for what else it might really need....? Knowing my luck it'll probably be more than one would wish.

It doesn't have SLS...Thank God! My wife had an E34 525i Touring years ago with that. Thankfully, we had a warranty on it because it needed two new rear shocks during our ownership and even back then the shocks were £600 each just for the part.

I've printed out the build spec from the VIN and it has M-Sport Suspension (like my previous one) and its stance is very nice. The spec is virtually identical to the other car except that this has leather seats but not electric whereas the other was cloth but electric. The build spec also shows that the PDC was already on the car at build. I assumed it was something someone had added on when I first saw it.

Too cheap to be eligible really, but it might find some love here.

The wipers make my teetch itch, and one rarely sees an advert quite this bad, but it could be a nice starter project.

I haven't the nerve to check its MOT history.

To save you the stress I checked it's MOT history, almost 6 years since it last passed an MOT! A starter project indeed, not sure how nice though.

Hopefully. Disposing friend has gone a bit quiet.

I haven't, um, mentioned it at home yet. I'll wait until a good time. Which might be a while in coming.

That's exactly how I procure most of my cars. Similarly, I wait until the 'right' time.*

I appreciate that this is listed slightly above thread budget, BUT it really should be well within budget.

I won't post the price. I laughed so hard I think a bit of wee came out. And I don't want that to happen to those of you just skimming through smile

Just looked in the dictionary, this URL was listed under 'optimistic'.

I saw that in the "Seriously Overpriced Car" thread. I then looked at the other marques that dealers sells...just the brands I love to hate!

Brilliant, that site could close the "seriously over priced car thread", due to the fact most things are under priced in comparison, I wonder how many cars they sell.

A little bit of forgetfulness on the part of yours truly has blown that chance.

Still, I'm 40 in a few months time. I need to line up a lifetime of car self-indulgence.

I've thought one ruse could use...

You could say that you have just got the car to help your friend renovate it and as a bit of a pastime/hobby for yourself as you haven't got a car of you're own on the go at the moment. This would appear manifestly true as clearly, when your finances are audited by Mrs r129sl, no money will appear to have been exchanged for the car.
You (slowly) carry on with the work on the car such that everyone subconsciously becomes accustomed to its presence. Hopefully, if vast sums of money aren't required in the initial renovation phase you can just slip the costs past unnoticed...a couple of bushes here, some other bits there. You know? Just bit by bit...like the Johnny Cash song.
Then when it comes to the more expensive stuff near the end (paint and bodywork?) that you can't hide, you say that your friend doesn't really have any interest in the car anymore, can't afford the cost of the renovation and has decided, in-lieu of payment for all your efforts and costs incurred so far, to simply give you the car because he wants it to go to a good home!

It might have been inspired by the Swedish boy racers who do unspeakably bad things to Volvo's. Yes, they do mega miles, but some of the things I see are truly shocking. I think we have a Swedish poster here who will back me up!

I know that prices vary alot between the U.K and Sweden in this case. But what is the thread thought on this. I've called the owner, as a favor to a friend who might be interested in this and the owner is not budging on the price at all. It's priced at £5.400. One owner 1994 BMW e34 520 24v. 37282 miles from new (60.000 km) never driven in the snow and salt, never even had winter wheels and tyres fitted. Calypso red with dark gray sports cloth seats, climate control, heated seats, electric sunshine roof, original blaupunkt stereo etc. I myself would have payed what the asking price is for a 535 or maybe even a 525, but look at it, it's spectacular. Something for Derin, but in LHD biggrin
