I refuse to pay £4/500 road tax, I just couldn't bring myself to do it, any car with high VED will just have to simply stay out of my reach, regardless of it being a great deal (the car itself) or not.
I'm tight like that too. All my current heaps are £230 as they are first reg before 2/3/2001, except for the Prius which is free. I figure £720 for four cars is pretty good, especially since only a maximum of two at a time actually clutter up the roads. Lowtimer said:
Car does look nice but 0a shouldn;t go yet as the auction has a week to run. I note the vendor is also simultaneously selling two other oldish Mercs, an R129 SL280 with a pano roof and a diesel CLK220.

I don't know much about these clk's, not sure if it's a genuine amg model, but I'll throw it out there.
£1,750, silver clk430 v8, albeit with almost 200k on it!

Magnificent. I love the green leather seats, very regal. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-E300-W124-1991-...

I would be tempted to tone down the green just a tad by fitting black carpets and door cards - maybe that would ruin it though.

I like the everything green approach, but then I did buy a leon of a Monza with this interior:I would be tempted to tone down the green just a tad by fitting black carpets and door cards - maybe that would ruin it though.
Harry, that's just thumbsnap (on PH at least) for you, use imgur and you won't get the watermark either.
The surprise for me on the W124s spec sheet is a memory passenger seat, haven't seen many of those. Lacking heated seats though strangely.

This looks fab, even has a decent LPG filler location.

I do keep coming back to these. Just add boost and bikes.

My s124 has heated electric seats with memory x2. I too did wonder about the need for a passenger seat to have memory. Is there any need?Jobbo said:
I know what you mean but when you can find cars just a couple of months older which are over £200 less a year to tax, it's a factor. The second car linked above isn't any pricier (OK, it's not a T5 but it has fewer miles) and it avoids the £500 VED.
£490 vs £290 is not over £200 a year.SuperHangOn said:

Just been to see this 2004 330 petrol S211: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
What's the 320 petrol like as an ownership proposition?

What was it like to view? Did you get the warm and fuzzy feeling? Does that one have the perforated cooled/heated seats? What's the 320 petrol like as an ownership proposition?
I don't think that was the model's latest update - didn't that come in 2006(?) - but I think the model had significantly improved by this stage anyway.
From the research I did, the petrols are a decent proposition. Around 25-ish mpg overall, sensible tax and insurance was very reasonable. I reckon that one looks OK.

I like both of those.
You can make a fair case that it actually is one of the best cars they've ever made, as you can for many other Mercs of the late '80s and early '90s, but "Mercedes themselves" invariably claim that every new model is better than the one before.
Woooooah, i think i just saw 0a running past my house then.W00DY said:
Funny line in the ad. "Mercedes themselves claim it to be the best model they've ever made." Oh no they don't, and they didn't when it was new either (because of the S-Class). Must have been on his way to Harrogate .
I cannot buy another car though, particularly not another 300E in green which needs paint
The non working electric seat is the biggest concern you might not fit behind the wheel to drive it home, or be able to reach the pedals, lol.
If anyone comes to buy it, i probably live 30 min away, so come and visit me please.
