You send Shadders up my spine, with your front wheel bearing whine.

not a barge as such but i am contemplating a shogun 03 3.5 petrol animal for 2k....what are they like in general?

I'm basically looking for a reliable car while I'm in spain as the car hire fees are showing (£400 i was last time for 10 days)

They can suffer top of engine lubrication issues which can be expensive to fix. The oil galleries are very fine and are prone to blocking if servicing is skimped on or poor quality oils used.

An early 90s MB S124 would do you right.*

How about this one instead? Cheaper, less miles, not chav-spec.

Nice colour scheme, potentially needs a service, but still good imo.

What a great looking car. I have not seen one in that colour before. The price seems fairly reasonable as well.

Mini leftfield (and LHD) "barge" (okay I just like it!):

BMW E30 Alpina C2 2.7 LHD For Sale (1988) £5,695. I would have guessed it was much more expensive going on the E30 and other Alpina prices from this era.

That's lovely isn't it? Can't see it losing money going forward either.

At £2k anything will be a lottery (except old Mercs as previously noted in the standard response).
Something like the 300TE Merc on the previous page would be where I'd put my money (subject to the usual caveats of condition etc).

Good spot! From mercland as well. Jay (the boss) is one of the best car dealers out there and he happens to have one of the coolest collections of 80s and older mercs!
They service all cars before sale and they do things properly.

Isn't that a bit of a rare car to have 0 history? Someone must know something about it? Priced for quick sale, not used for 5 years... I don't know why, but that sets off some alarm bells for me. Lovely car though.

Think this A8 should be within budget with a wee bit of haggling. Its had a big service & belts recently which is good news.
