Chaps, I need MB 190e assistance.
My local indie has proven useless at sourcing a front window motor for the 190. I recall that r129sl amongst others gave a recommendation of sites to try, but I can't now find them. Any chance someone can help please?
Secondly, any top tips on how to fit - easy?

I'm sure euro car parts would stock a window motor too?
ETA - not cheap: http://www.starpartz.co.uk/products/mercedes-w126w...
Here's a start on the process... removing the door card and getting at the regulator/motor assembly.

The chap tried ECP and apprently had no joy. I'm sure euro car parts would stock a window motor too?

More than £200 - blimey!
I think it needs the motor. The window moves really slowly, and if it's lowered all the way it won't come back up.
Might it be something else? I'll ask what they've diagnosed when I pick it up, but I was hoping to find something sensibly priced.

£88.80 - that sounds better. However, is an electric window mechanism the same as a window motor? Gsf usually have an offer of 35% off every other weekend.
The part number comes out as these - I suspect they are all analogous:
A0038200342
A0038203742
A0018209842
here's one for £75

If you want cheaper, give retrodave111 a call. Very nice bloke! (and quite likely to have one)

I assume it's the driver's side.
There are three versions. A0018209842, A0038200342 and A0038203742. I don't know the difference between them. V12 AMG might.
I found these new ones.
Of the first part number:
£125 or offers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-126-201-SERIES-...
£140 or offers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-W126-W201-Elect...
And of the third part number:
£75: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OE-Genuine-Mercedes-C-Cl...
£79 or offers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Mercedes-190-W20...
£75 or offers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-201-SERIES-ELEC...
There are obvious differences in appearance and construction but I am not sure if there are differences in shape, size and functionality.

There is no failure mode of an ordinary brushed electric can motor that I know that makes it run one way but not the other. More than £200 - blimey!

PS is it the passenger side or the driver's side? If the (usually much lesser used) passenger side then I am even more convinced it is the linkage needing to be dismantled & lubricated.
I strongly suspect that what you have is a corroded / semi seized up linkage, and that the motor itself will be OK once the linkage is put back in order, providing that it does not get burned out over-amping due to the excessive loads a stiff linkage is putting it under).

Is there any noise from the motor when then window won't come back up? On the 124 regulator the cog teeth wear away leading to a loud clicking noise where the teeth on the regulator and motor fail to mesh properly. If there's an area on the regulator where the teeth no-longer make contact the window could drop down but not come back up.

Mini leftfield (and LHD) "barge" (okay I just like it!):
BMW E30 Alpina C2 2.7 LHD For Sale (1988) £5,695. I would have guessed it was much more expensive going on the E30 and other Alpina prices from this era.

A little late I know but one of the guys over on the alpina register went to view it and its not a C7, just a boggo E30 with cosmetic alpina bits BMW E30 Alpina C2 2.7 LHD For Sale (1988) £5,695. I would have guessed it was much more expensive going on the E30 and other Alpina prices from this era.

Many thanks for the really helpful 190e window motor replies. To confirm, it is the driver's side, and when it's stuck down there is no noise - just nothing at all.
I'm collecting it tomorrow and I'll see what the garage says. Once I know for sure what I need, I'll follow your collective links.
Really appreciate all the advice, and I'll let you know how I get on.
