Bit short on the details and a new ebayer, but got to be worth further investigation.

I don't know what this means but suspect its something to do with suspicion around buying a CL600 Bi Turbo from Brighouse, W. Yorks. Both those Mercs look stunning.
The S124 is my perfect, perfect spec. Smoke silver, 300-24 engine, 5 speed box, heated seats. It's as if, having started to consider selling mine, god has just thrown that into the thread as if to say "really...?" 15 holes are the icing on the cake
The CL600... if only it was black or almandine black. Only those with big balls may apply. I drove one and the shove was just comical. If you got a year out of it and then it broke and you weighed it in, I'd still count that as a successful ownership experience :-)

"Don't you think I have enough of them? I wish I had a bigger garage, I would buy them all and keep them. It would be an interesting barn find for someone in 200 years time."
Any suggestions on how I reply to encourage him to add another V12 to the fleet?
For some reason, this one caught my eye.

Thought I'd mark this volume with my recently purchased barge, I took delivery earlier in the week.
I mentioned it on the last thread, and was asked for more details and pics;
2003 XJ6 SE, 95k one owner car (a doctor, knowing a few doctors I'm unsure whether that's good or bad but...) with full main dealer history and a folder with hefty main dealer maintenance receipts for stuff like bushes etc. Came with 4 P6000s with plenty of tread (also bought from the dealer at £250 a corner!) and Bosch wipers (yes, dealer sourced again - £30 a wiper fitted). Seems like the last owner didn't skimp right up until he part-exed it for an XF (private plate came up on the HPI).
XJs don't look that big in pictures, but it dwarfs my wife's Up and is longer than our campervan, parking is still a bit nerve-racking after only a few days in it.
Seems like there's nothing much to do - I will get the gearbox flushed and filter changed as a precaution and there was a slight wheel shimmy on the motorway but that seemed to disappear so it could well have been flat spotted tyres as the car had been stood for a while at the dealers. Nevertheless next time I'm up in Newcastle I'll take it for the works on a Hunter (alignment and balancing) as these cars are supposedly sensitive to out of balance tyres.
Inside cleaned up really well with some specialist leather cleaner and treatment, it wears it's miles very well, paint is really good (looks like it's been hand washed all it's life, very few swirls) and no corrosion on doors or bootlid (aluminium bubbles on a lot of older XJs it seems). I feel the need to light up a fat cigar and put on classical music every time I get into it. Being 45 it costs me £205 to insure for 7000 miles pa. (I work from home mostly).
The best bit - £4200 with a year's MOT from a small dealer.
I looked at a cheaper LS, and several 7 series' of the same vintage but this one stood out as being by far the best cared for and with great history; plus I love the looks, always have (my grandfather called the XJ "a car for cads" which only added to the appeal when I was young).
So far, very very pleased with it (we followed all the rules when buying, but I still have that 'new car nervousness' that something might crop up I haven't noticed).

There's a seat trimmer and restorer in Newcastle who do some fantastic work on older cars, recommended by someone on the North East forum on here.Their website links to an online shop (looks like it might be their own) - http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/
I used the Ultra Clean with one of these http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Tampico_Brush.php... wiping the excess off with a cloth - it worked wonders (I wish I'd taken a before picture, it wasn't bad but the difference......), then used the protection cream which smells of leather so the car smells (and looks) almost new

Sitting in Newcastle Airport departures having dropped my s124 to The Man. I'm quietly optimistic that its not rotten, but we'll see when he takes bits off. Noticed a certain cream 190 in the corner too... Never got a close look but if my car turns out half as good....
I feel a terrible weight of responsibility for promoting the Man so much. What did you think? Anyway, I'll be calling in on Monday so I'll keep an eye on it for you.And has he finished doing the bits and bobs on my 190?
Never got close to the 190 to see what had been done. Looks lovely though!
