Slightly over thread budget and lacking history.

I think I've seen this advertised before. It's overpriced for a high mileage car in an undesirable colour.

Also:

"It's fast; 0-60 in 5.8secs and limited to 155MPH"

As an owner of a similar car I disagree with the 5.8 seconds stat (it's not that quick!), but confirm that that mine is not limited to 155!

A new volume, excellent smile

I have just sold a barge and need to purchase another quite quickly. I've never owned a Jag and am having bad, bad thoughts about this one (lovely looking XJS featured in the last volume): http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/j...

Only thing is it's in London and I'm in Scotland. Has anyone been to see this by any chance?
Nope. It's been on my radar for a short while but I've been reliably informed that I'm not going to be buying all the Jags that appear in here. Bu66er. smile

That looks fantastic, not too expensive either.

Need to find a 400bhp+ barge in the next month for £6k ish. Should be easy right? :P
I imagine it'll have an AMG badge on it then.

Perhaps a Jag S-type R?

What other barges have 400bhp for under £5k?

400bhp-ish is fine smile

Volume 9; it'd be rude not to.

Per r129's post previous, this does look superb:

S500. One of us has bought from this guy before, yes? He was OK, I seem to recall?

Anyway, he knows how to present cars:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-MERCEDES-BENZ-S500-...

So many tatty ones for sale you forget how striking they can be. Also, amazing what a bit of time, effort and well composed pictures can do.

OT - does anyone else reckon it looks like 3 bin bags across the central windows in the house used as a backdrop?

Best sign up here!

I need some wisdom, deciding on whether to spend some money/time over winter doing preventative maintenance on my current E38 740, or trade up to a facelift E65.
Doing the 740 would involve a cooling system rebuild, trans fluid change, brake overhaul and any bushes that look shady.
If I went down the E65 route it'd need to be a pre '06 reg (can't get my head round paying £500 road tax, especially for a second car) and probably a 750. Downsides I can see are they're nearly always silver/grey/black, the internet isn't particularly kind with regard to faults and reliability and they seem a bit 'merican. Upshot being a more economical car I'd be happy using everyday.
I realise I've probably answered my own question here and will probably keep the older car.

The E65 will be being sold by someone who realises that they need to do A, B, C... in the same way you are thinking about the E38.

I'd love an E38 740 to drive my regular 800 mile return trip!

Guten morgen bargewards

Silver 190.,. it has a/c too. But manuel. frown. Meh on the mileage, probably a bad thing if it's genuine.

One day I will find a 2.6 auto with a/c and leather.

I didn't like the looks of them for quite some time but I think they are ageing well and looking better and better every year to my eyes.

No more like 6.5 on a good day.

Also glad to be back in on Vol 9. smile

700 quid for the Rover? If I needed a runaround I'd take it without hesitation.
