Front end smash is my guess, recorded or unrecorded. The rusty rear arches extend above the rear bumper on the off side suggesting it could be pretty rotten underneath.

CL600 bi-turbo
60k miles
£5000
NOT silver!!
Proper forged wheels fitted.

Don't get more bang for your buck.
Just emailed the seller. Providing everything checks out I'll be buying, although I'm on holiday right now which might make things difficult frown
Now for sale with a different vendor for £12,700. Quite a mark up from £5k!

Definitely same car, check the reg.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-CL600-V12-BI-TU...

It is still listed at £5k as well!
Ironically, when you look at the more expensive listing, the £5k one is listed as something you might be interested in just before the main description.

One from the previous thread, can't believe a car like this could go for less than the thread limit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-MERCEDES-BENZ-S500-...
Comfortably within limit too at £4,100.

As said previously, the seller certainly can present a car well and nothing obvious, other than lack of recorded mileage, to suggest this wasn't a superb car. If it was a PH'er then would love to hear about it.
Mileage was 119,000 which should be nothing for that car. Stupendous value.

I agree with the expressions of horror, but while I cannot access eBay because our system bars it, at the same time there is grudging admiration for the back-street ingenuity of the successful mating of panels onto a previous model - there can be few points where the curves and shut lines coincide, but to the non-MB fan, it looks like it left the factory like that. Of course, lots of filler etc., and I would hate to drive it, let alone crash in in it, but still, some achievement. I have seen (in photographs only) r129s wearing r230 noses, and likewise 124s wearing 210 front ends, but this is a first - it puts me in mind of the advert for a recently launched Eurobox of some description which featured a Hindustan Ambassador being wheeled into a workshop and emerging as a battered semblance of the model being promoted.

That's the one - given the size of a W140, I don't think an elephant would be enough!

Nice yellow trousers by the way - very useful for identification.
Isn't that a photo of an F40 though? wink

No response from my query about the £5k one, if it is a scam it's a very weird one!

There was a F50 there as well, to which Oa is referring. Both looked quite spectacular.

Tough crowd for the Volvo! Back to Mercs; what's the view on this?

I spotted that last week. If I hadn't just bought my 280, I'd have been all over that. Looked for an '07 350 for ages, and they were very few and far between. Good options and it looks well cared for as well.
Like this a lot, seems to be a good engine too. Good value for the spec and year. Facelift 2007 W211s are very proper, nearly all the problems engineered away, including the ABC stuff.

This might be one for kapitanlangziet (sp?), but open to comments from anyone and everyone really.

This is an 06 auto V70, 2.4 170. It's only 3 Autotrader miles from me, and my wife likes it. It's in depressingly dull Silver, but is otherwise inoffensive becasue I'm not averse to light coloured interiors.

Is there any reason to avoid? Gearbox? Anything else?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

Well if the £490 a year VED, 10 seconds to 60 and yet 28.5MPG don't put you off then I guess nothing will hehe

That must be very, very rare as a late model petrol of any sort, let alone the non turbocharged one.

For me a V70/S60 is either T5 or go home, the running costs are the same in any case. I might make an exception for an extremely nice 2.5T.
I have an S60 with the 2.0T and that gets 28 MPG too! You are absolutely correct...Get the biggest, most powerful turbo engine or don't bother!

My 2 V70s were 2.4 170 and 2.4T 200. No real difference in fuel consumption (poor in both cases).

Great family cars, let down by poor lock (SpeckledJimelle's main gripe) and a miserable automatic gearbox (my main bugbear).

Generally beautifully thought-through and built, mind, and nice to work on.

Having owned a P2 V70, be aware that they have a turning circle only slightly smaller than a medium oil tanker. Absolutely horrendous for navigating parking spots, especially if you're coming from a MB.
This in spades. Made the mistake of going into Upper Parliament Street car park in Nottingham. Oh dear, got in alright but getting out was an exercise in 3-point turns. FOR EVERY SINGLE RAMP!

I dont think it was a scam simply a vendor selling a car too cheaply via a crap advert. Opportunist spotted said cheap car and purchased it, valeted it and sticks it up for sale with better photos hoping to double his money (at least).

Advert looks the same but using a different ebay ID.
(or I could be barking up the wrong tree)

It's a copycat!

Different location and the pictures aren't as good.

Still not really feeling the W220.
