Also, I thought the cold central vents was a problem but turns out to be the way the system is designed.
I used to love this feature on old cars (if its the same thing you are describing!). You could have the screen/feet pumping out hot air, but still get fresh air to your face. So simple and so great. In the E65 you can alter the temperatures for the screen/face/feet to a certain degree, as well as the fan speed of each of them!
Not that I ever used that, mind.... I just set it to auto and rarely ever adjust the temperature. It just seems to work really well, be it winter or summer

Can anybody suggest any competitors to the X350 Jaguar XJR/Super V8 as an obscenely quick barge in or around thread budget?
Audi D2 S8 or C5 S6 - both models have gearbox concerns though. Possibly the A8 4.2TDI D3, doesn't have the gearbox worry, but is more moneyS6 example
MB - S55 and CL55
S55
Diff leak is common on 190's too. The advice once given to me is that unless you have it rebuilt then just live with it and keep a close eye on the oil level.
I might be off to view a nice looking 190 the Midlands next week. In the mean time if anyone spots a great 190 being sold by a non trade seller in the Hampshire area I would be interested to know Budget is around 2k. More interested in finding a non rusty, well cared for example rather than one with full spec. (Must be auto though).

The long return trip from a barge-hunting expedition is an important part of the bonding and fault-finding process. I usually spend it in dread of imminent automotive failure and/or financial melt-down. That looks tempting!
Haha, that is so true, drove my recently aquired 530i (e39) 220 miles home and found a few rather alarming faults on the the way home that I didn't spot on the somewhat long test drive. The lack of power compared to my now sold 523i for instance. Then there is the oil leak... But it's spanish, and Imola II over black cow, so much is forgiven. deadslow said:

Not so great if you want hot air coming towards you though, is it
You could consider going to the massive trouble of turning off the face vents Analogue idea in a digital age, I'm that kind of guy Axeboy said:
A few pics of my £900 W124 as found earlier in this thread
Got it back to my mates garage and got a fresh MOT. It had 6 months on it, but more of a peace of mind thing. The brake bias was off and the parking brake wasn't working so they were stripped and sorted. It was running a little rough at first so the injectors were cleaned and its running sweet. It has a very slight diff leak but I'm just going to keep an eye on it. Had a quick service as well.
Its got good history and only 91k so for £900 I think its a bit of a bargain. It drives very well, smooth and quiet.. impressed for the age. A few wee bonuses too. All tyres are matching Vredestein, the radio has a little hidden SD slot for Mp3's, the dim dash lights I was worried about just needed a dial turning! Also, I thought the cold central vents was a problem but turns out to be the way the system is designed. Interior is in perfect condition, even the mats are in great condition. Ive been doing little bits like cleaning the fuses, fitting the missing mudflap etc, but to be fair to the old girl its not needing much.
On the todo list so far:
Electric aerial not working - checked and its not attached to the chain so I'll get a new one
Aircon not cold - Suspect leak
Diff leak - to be monitored after some use
That's pretty much it apart from the usual cleaning items. I have to admit, I do like the old girl.

Remember to ditch that rear number plate surround at your earliest convenience!

Looks a little high at the front?

Hmm, not sure about that one, 2.6 wins many points, but needing 2 front wings and a sacco panel is a bit sad.
This one looks quite clean, £2k and minimum spec though!

I know that no-one else has commented on this, but I have been looking at these over the last couple of days, as an alternative to a FFRR. The only annoyance is the 20mpg as a derv - is Perth anywhere near you? Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
