Well.....
I finally gave in and have returned to the thread.
After a few barges, some even sourced through this thread, I went cold turkey and have managed to stick with my E92 325i SE for 18 months.
After changing the standard leather for M-sport seat, I pretty much have my ideal mini bargain barge, and I wouldn't even be thinking about getting rid if I didn't need more doors and luggage space thanks to having 3 kids and a project house.
So I'm back, and I'm sure as hell you didn't miss me, but I can't stop thinking I need to scratch that Merc CLS itch - I just wish it had 3 seat in the back and I've not seen many (any?!) in the <£5k bracket so it seems an E-class saloon, or maybe and estate is the way forward.
W211 e class rear seat can be retrofitted to CLS to create a 5 seater. Plenty do pop up at £5 grand or lower.I finally gave in and have returned to the thread.

Today's object of curiosity / desire is this:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
Upside is a fairly recent twin-turbo 3 litre load lugger, with sneaky cheap road tax. MOT history looks clean and the refurbished alloys wearing decent tyres are a positive sign.
Downside is a prodigious thirst without performance to match, the dull / soothing handling and the really atrocious turning circle.
Decisions decisions....
Ex-plod, terrible spec, powerful but v. thirsty engine and a likely knacked g'box.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

No thanks.
Much nicer petrol V70s out there for the money, if you are patient.
I can't help but do a quick Google when I see an ex-plod car for sale.
Nice looking mini barge in t4 form for £1,400...

We should start a new volume. This one has peaked. That is totally beyond reproach. Utterly, utterly bob-utterly-on.

I reckon there's half a chance they might come off without spoiling your shoes though and they're considerably less offensive than in more modern applications.

Low miles (65k), nice colours and velour, not cheap though at within a haggle of upper budget. And those wheels would have to be swapped for period items. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C684169
With broken cruise it's probably more of mid budget car in reality.

Off topic but how did you find the upgrade from SE to Sport seats? I'm considering the same move as I am suffering from a lack of thigh support (which is weird considering my diddy legs). I finally gave in and have returned to the thread.

Just in time for the... errr... winter sun?

It's been a while since we've had a Soarer - This V8 looks good in a rare colour (and local to me if it's actually of interest to anyone). Just needs the Lexus badges replacing with Toyota ones

Loving the C140 CL's being posted, the black one looks nice.
I've always wanted to go in a 140 or 215 CL, only ever been in a C216 in the form of a '63 AMG bi-turbo which was rather nice.
Assuming the MB World meet goes ahead you're more than welcome to have ago in mine; 'only' a 420 though.I've always wanted to go in a 140 or 215 CL, only ever been in a C216 in the form of a '63 AMG bi-turbo which was rather nice.

Pretty straight forward to self install, but you have to be careful depending which options you currently have compared to the seats you buy and whether they are pre-LCI into LCI or visa-versa - e.g. I pre-LCI electric seats without heat and the ones I bought were LCI without heat, so I just had to bridge a couple of wires under the seat to get the electrics working- It's difficult, but not impossible to fit heated seats if you don't already have them.
There is a whole thread on E90post with useful help - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480...

Oooer, that's interesting - how easy is it, can you fit a centre seat belt too? As you can see from the post above I'm not against swapping seats out, but I did have a google to see if it was possible to swap seats a few months ago and I came to the conclusion it wasn't possible......
