I seem to be in a position of owning 'only' one car for the first time in I don't know how many years. I've just waved off the new owner of an old car, in a deal done easily and quickly, which was at the opposite end of the spectrum to selling my 540iT. There is something to be said for the pain in dealing with the muppets that operate at the bottom of thread budget.
So, I'm now consoling myself by mentally spending all of the cash on something completely inappropriate - which leads me onto a question; Why is it then when you don't have the room nor the cash, there are temptations everywhere, but now that I'm in a position to spend, there is nothing that takes my fancy?
Give us a budget and some requirements to ignore and I'm sure we can help you out.So, I'm now consoling myself by mentally spending all of the cash on something completely inappropriate - which leads me onto a question; Why is it then when you don't have the room nor the cash, there are temptations everywhere, but now that I'm in a position to spend, there is nothing that takes my fancy?
Sensible winter smoker?

If you do go, would you mind having a quick poke around the E61 535D that they have up for £5k?
EDIT: Are you looking for something fast and practical? Only ask as my C32 will be up for sale soon....

I went and looked at their website earlier and did see the admin fee - it puts me right off. However, I reckon I might be in the vicinity of the dealer tomorrow afternoon, so may try and view it
If you are and you don't buy it for yourself, would you mind posting up your impressions?Jimmy Recard said:

This looks a tidy one and cheap! You don't see many low mileage ones anymore.

By remarkable coincidence I was thinking about W202s this morning. They seem overlooked to me. Fairly decent cars, aren't they?I'd love a C43 and looked for one when I was buying my SL - with no exceptions they were rusty as anything, some on their second round of paint with more needed!
A good W202, of any spec, is a really proper drive. They encourage 'good' driving, and make you a better person. Like a 190e really, but much happier at a modern 80mph cruise.

So chaps, with all the Mercedes love in here does anybody have any experiences of W220/C215 Mercedes?
I know the smaller Mercedes from this era get a bad rep, do the larger ones turn to rust/fall apart/become a electrical fire risk?. I've personally come across a couple of jammed shifters but that's a common issue. I do seem to see a fair few around suffering from ABC problems but from my own research that seems to be more to do with neglect/poor maintenance than inherit design flaws.
CL500s seem to represent fantastic value
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-CL500-AUTO-BLUE...
£2995!
Or the slightly more mad, but oh some tempting prospect of a V12 and Twin Turbos for £5k if you're willing to put up with more doors...

As a rarer colour, that may be less prone to rust. Could be a bit cheaper in that colour scheme though.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C685524

You gotta go for that, looks brilliant in that colour scheme - so refreshing to see some colour in a car rather than the boring sea of insipid and dull shades available nowhttp://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C685524

I think that's a great colour combination though.
