I really wish someone would buy that Range Rover from a few days back .. a FFRR has been on my wish list for like, forever, but the potential bork factor always has me running for the hills, with my tail between my legs. frown
In the meantime, I came across this, and hadn't realised these were getting this cheap? Surely within thread budget with some good haggling skills? 4x4 3.5 V6 to smoke around in, with Honda reliability, and by the sounds of it, all the toys imaginable .. somebody talk me out of it, as it's localish to me. Which makes a bloody change from all these motors you lot keep posting that are in the deep south! wink

I was just looking at these (online of course) the other weekend. The main dealer Johnsons in Slough had a black one with 50k up at around 8k IIRC - seemed a steal for what will be an excellent piece of machinery. Just checked again and it's gone. Personally reckon these would have been a better seller if it were not for the 06 onwards tax hike that affects them all.

I agree. £500+ VED turns my stomach, probably irrational, but there it is. Shame as if it were in the pre March 2006 I'd have been a likely buyer. They are good cars.

Yes, it should have one.

Yes available 2nd hand (eBay) or new from the stealer.

They look like this:

Part number should be 30657371

About £100 from the dealer, or approx 1/2 (brand new) on fleaBay:

Brilliant. Thanks chum.

That is seriously tempting, no nav but on these I've heard that's not necessarily a bad thing... I pretty much cycle past it everyday on the way to the station... coupled with the fact I've been thinking of what to replace the 330ci with that's half practical and will comfortably tow my 2t car trailer... D3 was on my radar but think I might have to venture up there tomorrow morning to have a look scratchchin
Jeez, what did the dealer pay for it if he is punting it for 6.5k?
5k or under probably. I rang about it last week. Conversation was hard work, clearly didn't want to talk about the car let alone sell it to me. Killed any ideas about me making the 3hr round trip. It might be an absolute gem - let's see what SPT28 has to say...

2006 E500 estate for £3500 post haggle, decent colour scheme to my eyes.

Potential Bargain I reckon.
Seller runs an automatic transmission repair shop in Wembley. Not sure if that's reassuring or concerning...

Way too much £ for the Jeep
Without a doubt. I wouldn't pay more than £2000. My uncle had a lower mileage one that he traded in a few years ago (about five maybe) against a brand new Q7 and iirc he got £1700. That said, it was worth more than that
I fancy something like this for no other reason that i want one smile Would use it as a skip car etc

How much should would these be worth?

Petrol down to 99.7 new pence per litre down at my local ASDA. They were queuing round the block for it. No doubt engines running... I would have joined them had I not just filled up in the village at £1.149. Duh.

Good for the bagistas, anyway.

Haven't managed to open the links but I'm guessing from the reg dates that they will not have the DVD comand.

The wide-screen comand with the CD slot above the screen is effectively a spruced up version of the original comand with the smaller screen in the pre facelift car.

The DVD comand has a separate dvd nav drive in the boot and the DVD slot for mp3 or video dvds is hidden behind the motorised screen, as is a cassette drive.

The DVD holds all of Europe for nav and is a lot faster to calculate routes and generally operate.
The CD version will just hold UK maps and is quite laggy but fine when you get used to it and once the route is loaded it operates smoothly.

The earlier version does have a 3.5mm aux input in the glovebox whereas the DVD version has no provision for it and very costly aftermarket digital adapters are required.

The other aspects are not so important as all 600s come with Bose sound anyway.

Another way to identify is that the early version has 2 rotary knobs whereas the late version has one rotary knob only.
You're a three pointed star! Thanks for the info, I always assumed wide command = DVD hence the confusion.

Would be nice to get a later car but TT 600s are too thin on the ground to be too picky, especially when in and around thread budget.

Out of those two cars which would you say looks a better bet?

I think that when—like me—you're running a 2.0litre carb which was made in 1990 to a design which first saw the light of day in 1980, you can put pretty much anything in it!

It's hard to say - people tend to put the price up at this time of year with "ideal snow car innit m8" as justification.

Also, the prices seem higher than a couple of years ago when fuel prices were higher and the recession was deep. I personally wouldn't want to pay more than two grand.

But it is the Overland which is the highest trim spec and was available only with the High Output 4.7 V8 (not the normal 4.7 V8) and the CRD (2.7 diesel). Lower specs also had the 4.0 straight six and 4.7 V8.

If I was going for a V8, it would have to be the High Output. But I also wouldn't mind that legendarily tough straight six. You know how people here go on about the longevity of old Mercedes and BMW sixes?

Imagine that multiplied. Apart from in earlier Wranglers which had immobilisers fitted at the docks which used to take on water and properly immobilise it.

Picked up an '06 325i E91 SE just over a month ago, 94k, part history, recent runflats, cruise, leather, sensors f&r and a few other toys.
Paid £4600 for it, the guy threw in some Thule roof bars as well, didn't think it was too bad.
Done around 2000 miles in it and apart from a bit of oil (was expecting it to use some) has been fantastic.
Fixed a few of the niggles - one being broken wire in the tailgate causing the radio not to work, satisfying getting that working. Rear bumper was a bit damaged but got one off eBay for £40 in the right colour! Set of 16" alloys (£100) that I stuck my old winters on ready if it gets worthwhile fitting them, as I understand bimmers don't like snow on standard tyres..

That's a good deal.
The E9Xs seem to wear their miles well, my E90 is on 110k and still tight as the proverbial.

My current daily is an E92 325i SE. Still solid and rattle free at 92k miles. Only problems has been a very common one. Failed ABS pump. Amazingly BMW want £1800 to fit a new one which will still have the inherent fault! ECUtesting will rebuild and modify it to avoid the fault for £200+vat - the only catch is you need to remove it and you will have to wait 5 days for it to come back. I waited until I went on holiday and had my mate remove it and keep it at his garage. You can DIY but you need something that can cycle the ABS with when you put it back together and bleed the brakes.

Nice-looking 126 for around 2 grand. I'd want to know why he's selling so quickly, and to understand exactly what the V5 issue is, but sounds alright and is a lovely colour.

This might be worth buying for 999, if only to transfer the plate to another Merc. Assuming your initials are GPL.

I've seen roadkill that looks in better nick than that.

Has no-one seen the £1300 300 near Henley on Thames on C&C that's been on for ages? Has been on here before so won't link again.

I have been talking to the vendor of a 560 SEC which has quite low miles and is in decent nick apart from the dreaded rust under the rear window which it seems to be suffering from quite badly. Has anyone on here come across this before (I know it is a common issue) ? If so how much was it to fix, the rear screen is not delaminated so should not need replacing but the panel at the base of the screen looks stuffed.
