Good voice control is a fabulous thing, a bad one is an exercise in utter frustration. My new Garmin sat nav has fantastic control, the Parrot bluetooth in my other half's car is absolutely woeful.

I don't know about SIRI but I invited the voice control on my Android 'phone to reproduce with herself. She did not like it!

I had a similar response from SIRI - she/he has an attitude.

can any of the prominent bargistas confirm that the meet at MB world for the 29th December is on?

I'd love a mince pie or three and a chat over the holiday season.
That's not a group with which many would voluntarily self-identify.

I count seventeen buttons on that steering wheel.

Is that a record?
I actually count 19! Does this officially mean that it's "fully loaded" wink

Well I like a well-packed steering wheel.

Mainly for the catherine wheel effect at night when spinning it around. Feels Tronnish.

I know nothing about Jags, but this looks nice and is local to me - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

Can't say I know anything about the dealer even though it is so close - I'm out of Tyre-kicking practice.....

I still want to scratch that V8 itch - it is a V8? Is that what the 8 stands for? - opinions?
Yes it's a V8, and a well regarded one at that. Rust is the issue with the X308 I believe, arches, sills etc all need a good look over.
Assuming it isn't terminally rusty, that looks a fantastic place to stick around 1500 quid; good spot.

I have been talking to the vendor of a 560 SEC which has quite low miles and is in decent nick apart from the dreaded rust under the rear window which it seems to be suffering from quite badly. Has anyone on here come across this before (I know it is a common issue) ? If so how much was it to fix, the rear screen is not delaminated so should not need replacing but the panel at the base of the screen looks stuffed.
To answer my own question I spoke to a specialist today who suggested around £1400 to do a proper job, not worth it with the other minor issues the car in question has. Finding a 560 of either flavour (SEC / SEL) is becoming increasingly difficult.

Would it be absolutely bob-on then though? £1400 spent on an icon like a 560SEC doesn't really sound like money wasted.

No, the car also had bubbling on one front wing, a slight bubble round the sunroof aperture and on a few of the arches. In addition it had a baggy rear headliner.

All of those smaller bits I could make a decent stab at fixing but not sure I have time. I have suggested I would still buy it with a reduction in price, will see what happens.....

Very much this^^^

I'm sure that a low mileage, solid screened 560sec would be worththe investment: if not, offer it up here! biggrin

Well, in under 2 hours I'm legally allowed to drive again.... I'm off to bed now, mind. I have tomorrow off work too. I plan on a little trip out in the 745i again, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it!

Barging again in blissful peace and serenity!

What's the beards view on the Lexus GS?? Started looking at 05 plate GS300 for circa 4000-5000 and they seem to be very well specced for the money

Frustrating evening, my SL is now garaged so only out in nice days over the winter, checked it tonight to find a flat tyre. The useless metal dust cap seems fused on, so thought I'd change the wheel only to find I'm missing the 'wrench' (sounds very American) to remove the wheel nuts, tools kit seems to have everything else. Can't believe I'm only just noticing it missing now! Thankfully I've never needed it when out on the road. Anyway where's the best place to source these, direct with mercedes?
Part number A2215810001. £9.61 inc VAT at the dealer with 10% discount. Although there's a used one on Ebay for £15.

I keep a 450mm breaker bar with a 17mm socket in the boot. Much less bother getting the bolts loose. And useful in the event of "trouble". Something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B006A7BI3...

Pliers for the valve caps, replace with placka ones.
Excellent thanks!

Regards the valve caps, even with pliers they wouldn't budge, didn't want to force it too much in case I damaged the valve.
Again O/T so apologies but going in circles here and beginning to doubt myself. Bought a 17mm socket today from Mercedes, (the exact part number above) doesn't fit my 'nuts' look more like 19mm but would need a very thin sided socket, how does this look to you guys...

Cheers,
C

Are they not covers that go over the nuts?
