Again O/T so apologies but going in circles here and beginning to doubt myself. Bought a 17mm socket today from Mercedes, (the exact part number above) doesn't fit my 'nuts' look more like 19mm but would need a very thin sided socket, how does this look to you guys...

Cheers,
C
Are they not covers that go over the nuts?
They look that way to be, too. Try levering them off with a flat blade screw driver then throwing them in the bin.

Well, in under 2 hours I'm legally allowed to drive again.... I'm off to bed now, mind. I have tomorrow off work too. I plan on a little trip out in the 745i again, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it!

Barging again in blissful peace and serenity!
Enjoy the drive, Ross! Yours is a great story.

Surely those are just decorative covers over the real wheel bolts? Look how wonky some of them are, I'd be surprised to see real wheel bolts as misaligned as that!

I really wish you all of the best for tomorrow, and hope that you have a really great drive.

You don't know me from Adam and I'm not a stalker, but yourself and the rest of the posters on this thread (including previous volumes) have given me many hours of reading and much food for thought - about my C Class V6 or an S Class V8.

My mk4 golf had covers like that, but just one per wheel on the lock-nuts. There was a set of oversize plastic tweezers amongst the wheel changing gubbins that made getting them off without scratching the rims possible.

Ross: great to hear you'll be back behind the wheel tomorrow! driving
Looking forward to the Christmas barge flotilla and so pleased you'll be able to get there under your own steam... mind how you go though, no losing your licence on the way there!

What's the beards view on the Lexus GS?? Started looking at 05 plate GS300 for circa 4000-5000 and they seem to be very well specced for the money
Assuming thats an early new shape, not a late old shape, i like them a lot. Restrained and proper, and less naff than most Lexus. No experience of the actual cars though.

That's great news clap , hopefully you have gone for a waft driving rather than a drive to ease yourself back into things!

BTW most 210's (and maybe other MB's) came with funky long bolts - I was told by an indy to replace them with the newer shorter bolts as they are known to snap (esp at kwik-fit type place who tighten the bolts to 1000ft/lb with air guns) . A few quid each at the dealer.

Congrats Ross! I couldn't drive for about a month earlier this year because of an ankle injury so god knows what it was like for your length of time...

Thanks everyone smile

I did indeed go for a drive, although I didn't leave the house until around 9:30. It felt great to be behind the wheel of my car again....and not a bloody passenger! It is also not just the fact I can drive again, but also the fact that it's my last step to getting my life back, in reality. Great feeling and a good way to mark 1 year to the day since I was under the knife!

Congratulations Ross, that's great news. It must be very satisfying to have this final part of your life back.

Yes MB world is on - does 11am work for everyone?

11 am is good for me. I presume it is on the 29th?

My holiday season is now full!

A football match, visits to parents, a trip to Tewkesbury and a barge meet plus of course the obligatory shopping trip.

Excellent stuff. I shall bring some mince pie to share..

Sorry to be boring about this but, for completeness, the RV is 1100 hrs, Tue 29 Dec 15, MB World (isn't it?)

Pedantic I know, but I'm something of an institutionalised Crown Servant and like clear instructions!

Are there preferences on car-types to bring? Barge-y, natch, but otherwise weapons-free I assume?
