A gathering of bargeistas should be barge-preferred, surely? Even so, I'm sure any curio would be sufficient. Shame I'm working that day I'm afraid chaps.

Things I like;
The price is only £500 over budget, gearbox been replaced and has new tyres, photo of dash warning lights taken with engine started, radio tuned to Magic FM, tray of car care stuff in the boot.

I've never liked them in black - I much prefer that green one! I just don't have the guts.

BTW most 210's (and maybe other MB's) came with funky long bolts - I was told by an indy to replace them with the newer shorter bolts as they are known to snap (esp at kwik-fit type place who tighten the bolts to 1000ft/lb with air guns) . A few quid each at the dealer.
Yep, started with the W126/R107 and the 15 hole "flat face" alloys.
All just to get the look of the bolt head being flush with the face of the alloy. The trend continued on the W210 as well.

The W124 bolts are the bolts that are used to replace these and many other. The bolt's won't snap but they also won't appear to be flush with the face of the wheel if that bothers you.

That RR does look as though it's worth a punt.

Just bought one quite similar but lpg'd. It is surprisingly lovely to drive for a damn great truck! Recommended if you are a committed bargist. smile

I'm going to need 4 x new bolts for my recently acquired cl600 as it didn't come with the locking wheel nut key, or if it did I can't find it!

It's going in on Thursday to have the new springs fitted and an MOT.... Fingers crossed!

I'm also tempted to re badge it as it doesn't have a cl600 badge on the back or the nice little v12 badges on the c pillar.

I did indeed go for a drive, although I didn't leave the house until around 9:30. It felt great to be behind the wheel of my car again....and not a bloody passenger! It is also not just the fact I can drive again, but also the fact that it's my last step to getting my life back, in reality. Great feeling and a good way to mark 1 year to the day since I was under the knife!
Just brilliant news chap. thumbup

V12 - can I just check: so all the long bolts are indeed prone to snapping, including 124 bolts (certainly, my 124 has the extended bolts with the chrome head)? I think the flush effect bolts are indeed a nice feature and certainly beat the rust prone MB bolts that succeeded them!

The dealer can supply a new key if you do want to keep the locking bolts.

These are the ones that are prone to snapping (although they have to be abused: use a torque wrench and you should not have any problems):

w124 bolts are fine. It is worth noting that w124 bolts originally were rather nice with stainless heads, thus:

Like many Mercedes parts, they have been superseded by an inferior item, thus:

It's the W126 type that break very easily due to the length, W210 are shorter and do break but not so common, W124 are not really an issue.

If you get your tyres changed at any place that uses an air gun liberally, undo them when you get home and retorque correctly.

Thanks V12 and r129sl - I use a mobile tyre fitter and fit the wheels myself using a torque wrench, so they won't see an airgun. Both the 124 and the 129 use the extended shaft bolts, although with the change of wheels on the SL it resembles Boadicae's chariot so have shorties on order.

As I said, in the spirit of the thread! jester

The way I see it, with the L322, there all sorts of gizmos to go wrong. With a Classic, it's more likely to be rust, rust and more rust. I don't know which is worse, but possibly confirms that there is no such thing as a cheap Range Rover.
