Would it be absolutely bob-on then though? £1400 spent on an icon like a 560SEC doesn't really sound like money wasted.
Very much this^^^I'm sure that a low mileage, solid screened 560sec would be worththe investment: if not, offer it up here!

Too much rust for my liking, which is a shame as I was quite looking forward to the drive home.

Thanks everyone
I did indeed go for a drive, although I didn't leave the house until around 9:30. It felt great to be behind the wheel of my car again....and not a bloody passenger! It is also not just the fact I can drive again, but also the fact that it's my last step to getting my life back, in reality. Great feeling and a good way to mark 1 year to the day since I was under the knife!

11 owners rust on tail gate and bonnet no doubt arches inner and outer and lower doors, interior like an old discovery / maestro, eight weeks mot still left to run and still somehow good value?
As I said, in the spirit of the thread! The way I see it, with the L322, there all sorts of gizmos to go wrong. With a Classic, it's more likely to be rust, rust and more rust. I don't know which is worse, but possibly confirms that there is no such thing as a cheap Range Rover.
Although I would love a superb classic range rover ideally an LSE as a plaything, but would triple the budget and even then expect it to need attention.

Things I like;
The price is only £500 over budget, gearbox been replaced and has new tyres, photo of dash warning lights taken with engine started, radio tuned to Magic FM, tray of car care stuff in the boot.

I'm not sure how I feel about the wrong badge, black grille, chrome gills and what appears to be a chrome ring around the Land Rover badge (to me they just ruin the great lines of the early L322)The price is only £500 over budget, gearbox been replaced and has new tyres, photo of dash warning lights taken with engine started, radio tuned to Magic FM, tray of car care stuff in the boot.

Do these suffer the same E39 cooling issues?

The main area for concern was the usual rear parcel shelf and the corners of the rear panels where they meet the corners of the screen, the shelf in particular is royally f**ked!

Yes, I feel the lack of these too. However we seem to be in a tiny minority. For all the people who said they liked the idea of a touring M5, it turned out most of them didn't like the idea enough to actually put down the money for one. It never sold well in LHD markets on the E34 platform, consequently not deemed worth doing in RHD, and also consequently the absence of one in the E39 range. Cue the renewed clamour of people saying "why isn't there..." so they reinstigated it for the E60/61, and sales were very disappointing again. I think they've learned their lesson now. Monster German estates need to be Mercedes or Audi to sell, it would appear.
